Across the elements of air, water, earth, and fire, a person’s astrological sign gives a lot of shape to their personality, goals, hobbies and, without a doubt, the kind of books they like to read. If you’re embarking on your spirituality era and want to learn more, or are just looking for some good books to read, here are book recommendations for zodiac signs.

Aries

Aries people, fire signs as they are, tend to carry a lot of energy, passion, and courage. They are strong-willed and confident, and when they put their mind to something, you can bet on them to get it done. This is a lot like the fiery protagonist in Carrie Soto Is Back. Author Taylor Jenkins Reid, who’s written some of my all-time favorite books, creates a ruthless, determined, and head-strong main character who fights to defend her title as a legendary tennis player. It’s no doubt that Carrie embodies major fire sign energy, and reading her story will leave all the feisty Aries out there feeling seen and heard.

Taurus

The element of Taurus is Earth, and you’ll find that Tauruses are often grounded, practical and dedicated people. They love to learn and are always looking for ways to improve their quality of life, and The Alchemist by Paulo Coehlo is a perfect read for that. A popular favorite amongst readers, it’s a book all about lessons, traveling, and finding one’s true purpose. Tauruses that love introspection and gaining new perspectives will get a lot out of The Alchemist’s tale.

Gemini

Outgoing, playful, friendly and lively, Geminis are a ton of fun. They’re easy to get along with and love a good time. Above all else, you can almost always guarantee to get a good laugh out of a Gemini’s presence. Being one of the three air signs, their humor is unmatched. That’s why I’m recommending People We Meet On Vacation by Emily Henry. Henry blends humor and sarcastic wit effortlessly in this friends-to-lovers romantic comedy. Geminis are bound to appreciate the joking banter between the two love interests and the liveliness of the vibrant and never-standing-still protagonist, Poppy.

Cancer

If your sign is Cancer, the sign of the crab, you’re likely on the more sensitive, gentle and empathetic side. Natural-born nurturers, you appreciate when people get deep and reveal their emotions to you. That’s why I’m recommending a deeply personal and raw memoir, Crying In H Mart by Michele Zauner, who writes of her mother’s death and her relationship to her Korean culture. This book made the list of my favorite books of 2022 and was intensely emotional, honest and important. Cancers will enjoy Zauner’s openness and introspection and find their inner selves touched by the memoir’s depth.

Leo

Like the other fire signs, Leos are a feisty, confident and energetic bunch. You can count on them to be the centers of attention and support all the theatrics. For my Leo friends who love a little drama and also don’t mind a bit of glamour, I’m recommending Counterfeit by Kirstin Chen, a book about two women who get caught in the illegal business of selling fake luxury bags. It’s extravagant, dramatic, and wildly entertaining from start to finish. And you can bet that the book’s lavish style of scheming will be enough to excite any Leo.

Virgo

Alexa, play “VIRGO’S GROOVE” by Beyonce. Not sure if Bey thought to mention this in the song, but Virgos are all about order and control. I have yet to meet a Virgo who doesn’t find immense joy in mapping their lives out in a cutesy planner. But seriously, if you’re one of these Virgos who is fueled by organization and order, you would probably vibe with the protagonist of Emily Henry’s Book Lovers. (Listen, Henry has made not one but two appearances on this list for a reason, people!) The main character, Nora Stephens, is a cutthroat and intimidating force in the literary editing world. She is a portrait of structure and order until she falls in love with her enemy. It’s cute and funny and will remind Virgos that it’s sometimes better to forfeit control and go with the flow instead.

Libra

Represented by the image of balance scales, it’s well known that Libras are lovers of harmony and stability. Not only this, but they are also one of the most romantic signs in the zodiac. Because Libras appreciate beautiful love stories, I’m recommending one by author Madeline Miller, titled The Song of Achilles. If you haven’t yet read this gutwrenching but beautiful story of integrity, courage and love, WYD? The book is well-loved and hyped up in the Booktok community (for good reason!) and is sure to become any Libra’s great next read.

Scorpio

Scorpios are of the water element and tend to be so passionate in nature that they are often mistaken for being a part of the fire sign crew. For this reason, I’m recommending the Bridgerton series by Julia Quinn. You’ve probably seen the series’ show adaptation on Netflix (and if you haven’t yet, consider this your sign) and know how romantic and steamy it is. Luckily, the burning lust within the show is just as intense in the books, making Bridgerton a perfect read for all the sensual and romantic Scorpios out there.

Sagittarius

Born between November 22 and December 21, these fire signs are balls of energy and lovers of intellectual thought and deep conversation. If you have people in your life who are Sagittariuses, you’re probably well aware that they make some of the best, most loyal and devoted friends. This is why I’m recommending Conversations with Friends by Sally Rooney, a personal favorite of mine. Apart from the sprinkle of romance and extramarital affairs, Rooney’s book is, at its core, all about friendship and the vulnerability, compromise, and communication that goes along with it. Sagittariuses will appreciate the passionate friendship between Frances and Bobbi and will find their curiosity piqued by the deeply intellectual and thought-provoking conversations that take place throughout the book.

Capricorn

Capricorns, the third earth sign in the bunch, are characterized as highly ambitious people. They know what they want and are willing to put in the hard work to get it, just like Jay Gatsby in The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. This book is a classic portrayal of that Capricorn-Esque ambition because Jay, an extravagant and lavish party host, strives for great success, wealth, and even love throughout the novel. While Capricorns might be a bit more practical than Jay (who, *spoiler* does not end up getting the girl), they’re likely to appreciate the character and find themselves in his work ethic and go-getter mentality.

Aquarius

As the air sign that’s almost always confused with being a water sign, Aquarians are known as some of the more different, quirky individuals out there. Oftentimes, they choose to take the road less traveled, doing things uniquely their own way which distinguishes them from other people. To my fellow Aquarians, I’m recommending My Year of Rest and Relaxation by Ottessa Moshfegh. All you need to know is that the protagonist puts her entire life on hold, deciding that, in order to live her best life, she’ll need sleep for an entire year before going back out into the world. (Totally normal, right?) As an Aquarius, I’ve truly never felt more seen. The book is unique, funny and relatable, making it a great read for the quirky Aquarians out there.

Pisces

If you know anything about this water sign, you know that Pisces are highly in-tune with their emotions. They are deeply sympathetic and have immense compassion for other people, especially those whom they care for. For Pisces, I recommend A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara. This book, which focuses on the different lives of four friends, is dense with complex, tragic and powerful feelings. While reading A Little Life can be a difficult experience due to its heavy content (which should definitely be checked out before reading), people with their star sign in Pisces might feel their emotional intuitiveness tingling while reading this BookTok favorite.
