So after the COVID-19 lockdown back in 2020, I, like most people, decided to do my own DIY haircut at home, where I chopped off most of my hair into a shoulder-length bob. And ever since then, my hair just got shorter and shorter, and I absolutely loved it. It was fun and gave me a newfound appreciation for my hair! But now, after having to do my hair almost every day for three years, the maintenance has just become too much, and I’ve decided to go on my own hair growth journey to get my long hair back. However, growing out a short layered haircut has its awkward stages, and all I want is for my hair to grow as fast as possible. So, I’ve been looking into all kinds of hair oils to promote growth and density, and here are five oils to help keep your hair happy and healthy!

The Ordinary Multi-Peptide Serum for Hair Density

Now, this serum is actually the first hair oil I’ve tried on my hair, and let me tell you, it has not disappointed. It is a leave-in formula that is meant to be put in clean, dry hair and gives your scalp support for thicker and denser hair. It has plant extracts that help promote hair growth and health, like peptides and caffeine, and is on the cheaper side for my girls on a budget. I like to use this at night after I’ve showered and blow-dried my hair, and I gently massage it into my scalp. A big thing with this, really all hair oils, is consistency, so make sure you apply this regularly to see results!

Kate Blanc Cosmetics Castor Oil

This castor oil not only aids in hair growth but can be applied to your eyelashes and eyebrows and be used as a skin moisturizer. Castor oil has been known to have great health benefits when used correctly and can help your hair grow stronger and healthier without any harmful chemicals. I recommend using this on your hair the night before or on the morning of hair wash days; put a few drops into your hand and massage your scalp.

Mielle Rosemary Mint Scalp & Hair Strengthening Oil

You’ve mostly likely heard of the benefits of rosemary hair oil, which has proven to help scalp health and hair growth. A prevalent and slightly controversial one that many people have flocked to is the Mielle Rosemary Mint Oil, and it has been flying off of shelves after it became popular on TikTok. This hair oil, though claimed to be “formulated for all hair types and textures,” is mainly intended for black hair and used on protective styles. With that being said, it is a great product; it is anti-inflammatory and antioxidant and helps nourish dry scalps and smooth split ends. So this can be a really great option when used accordingly!

Fable & Mane HoliRoots™ Pre-wash Hair Treatment Oil

This pre-wash hair oil is another excellent option and is marketed to be used on all sorts of hair textures. It contains strengthening ashwagandha, which helps to strengthen the hair and scalp barrier. Be careful not to use too much or too little, and take into account what kind of hair texture you have. This oil is meant to be put in your hair before you wash it, whether that be a few hours before you wash or overnight, for best results.

This last hair oil is another one that helps with hair density and growth and has ingredients such as caffeine, biotin, and copper peptides. It is really great for damaged, fine hair and is fragrance-free and cruelty-free. It is a daily use sort of thing and can actually be applied to wet hair as well as dry hair. But you want to try to focus the oil in problem areas to promote growth, which tends to be closer to the hairline or the crown, and all you have to do is add a few drops into your hands and massage it into your scalp.
