We’ve Paired Each Of These Haunting Horror Films With A Zodiac Sign

Happy Halloween! It feels like the month of October flew by, but before the official beginning of November, we figured we would share one last Halloween article. After all, October is easily the spookiest month of the year! This was an especially powerful Halloweekend for all you astrology lovers out there, since Saturday night was not only a full moon, but a lunar eclipse! With all this energy in the air, we thought we would combine scary with spiritual and determine: what horror movie are you based on your zodiac sign? (Spoilers ahead!)
Aries – Barbarian
This film is a relatively new addition to the horror genre, having only come out in 2022. It follows a young woman named Tess who encounters a stranger living in the home she thought she rented out. Aries matches both the independence of Tess and the ambition of the character AJ. The film also has its fair share of twists and jumpscares, and isn’t afraid to hold back when things get messy.
Taurus – Annabelle
What kind of horror list would this be if we didn’t include at least one film from the Conjuring universe? We paired up this film because of Taurus’ similarity to Mia, a young mother dealing with the aftermath of devil worshippers invading their home and attacking her. Like Taurus, Mia is gentle and patient, but tends to be a little materialistic. (Especially when it comes to dolls.)
Gemini – Us
Arguably the most well-written movie on this list, Us has a lot more to do with Gemini than just the mention of twins/body doubles. Gemini is not only quick-witted and outgoing, but curious as well – much like young Adelaide when she wanders off and discovers the funhouse. Gemini is also flexible and versatile, able to adapt to almost anything if the situation calls for it. We can’t help but be reminded of the diverse capabilities of the tethered, but also the incredibly unique writing that always had us shocked at where the film was going next!
Cancer – Lights Out
Cancer has the reputation of being one of the most emotional zodiac signs, a topic that this film covertly deals with. It revolves around two siblings – a young boy and his older sister – as they deal with their mother’s imaginary friend “Diana” who can only be seen when the lights are out. Diana turns out to be an embodiment of the mother’s depression, influencing her actions and the people close to her. Much like Cancer, the movie’s characters are protective, caring and sensitive.
Leo – The Ring
Leo is passionate, confident and protective, much like Rachel, a journalist who discovers a tape that mysteriously causes its viewers to die after seven days. Rachel is unafraid to detangle the mystery of the tape’s origins, and when those close to her are threatened, it only makes her more determined to discover the truth about it. While Leo has many of Rachel’s positive qualities, they also can hold a grudge like no tomorrow. We can’t help but think of Samara!
Virgo – Hereditary
We’re sure there are at least a couple Virgos out there who can relate to Annie Graham, the organized, emotional and practical matriarch of the Graham household (or so it would seem). Like the Graham family, Virgo can sometimes have a tendency to be secretive, if only to keep out of other people’s way. They might be perfectionists at heart, but sometimes communication skills are a bit lacking. Hereditary displays many of these qualities (on a much more extreme scale, of course), which end up contributing to the family’s downfall. Of course, Virgos are incredibly kind and reliable people as well!

Libra – Smile
Another recent addition to the film world, Smile received an incredibly wide range of reviews, but ultimately was one of the most successful horror releases in recent years. Libra – while artistic, charming and romantic – has a side to them that can be rather talkative and even gullible. Like the curse following psychologist Rose Cotter, Libra can be flighty and impatient, jumping from place to place on a whim.
Scorpio – The Conjuring
If you ask me, The Conjuring is the it girl of horror, so what better sign to pair it with than the one that incorporates October 31st? Ruthless and mysterious, Scorpios accomplish any goal they set their mind to and are not easily deterred. Demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren share this exact quality in their line of work, which draws them to a family in desperate need of their help.
Sagittarius – It
Sagittarius is friendly and all-encompassing, while also being reckless and mouthy. It seems obvious to us that we should pair the sign who is truly a kid at heart with the film that features the iconic characters that make up the Losers’ Club. Much like the kids in the film, Sagittarius is outspoken and self-assured, occasionally finding themselves in hot water because of it.
Capricorn – Paranormal Activity
Although this film isn’t a real documentary, the formatting really had us forgetting it was fake for a second or two! Like Capricorn, Micah is methodical about his videotaping techniques and stubborn when his girlfriend Katies begs him to leave whatever is haunting their house alone. Capricorns are hardworking people who love a challenge and don’t scare easily, which is bad news for any ghosts they come in contact with!
Aquarius – The Fear Street Trilogy
It would be wrong to pick only one film from this trilogy! Aquarius is the out-of-the-box thinker of the zodiac, known for their originality and unique perspective on life. They also have a reputation for speaking their mind, regardless of whether it helps or hurts their case. Aquarius reminds us a lot of Deena and Ziggy, who are both clever, spunky and hard-headed; unwilling to go down without a fight.
Pisces – Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark
This film should resonate with you Zillennials out there – especially if you’re familiar with the books it’s based off of. It seemed like these books inhabited every shelf in elementary school classrooms at one point in time! Much like main character Stella, Pisces has an affinity for a good story. They’re often caught zoned or daydreaming, which has its perks, but also its downsides. The teens this film focuses on are definitely empathetic, as they’re trying to prove someone to be innocent, but they’re also incredibly naive at some points, which definitely screams Pisces.
