Astrology is a complicated subject. Defined as “the study of the supposed influence of the stars and planets on human affairs,” astrology is solely based on those who interpret it, instead of actual evidence. It’s often confused with astronomy, which is the scientific study of celestial objects. Although astrology is considered by the science community to have no real merit, that doesn’t mean there aren’t those who dive deep into the astrological signs and their meanings, dedicating their time to mastering star charts to be used in spiritual contexts. And even though nothing in astrology is proven to be true, that doesn’t mean we can’t still have fun with it!

An app that has been growing in popularity in recent years is Co-Star, which analyzes your star chart and dissects your personal, daily horoscope. We already wrote an article about a week in the life determining the accuracy of Co-Star, but we never did one about the Co-Star app explained. With that being said, it’s about time we broke down all the features the app has to offer.

Like any good astrologer, the Co-Star app goes deep into your birth chart to get its information. All you have to do is put in your birthday, including the year and time you were born. Once that’s done, Co-Star provides a chart for you to see your sun, moon and rising signs, along with the signs correlating to the other planets in the solar system. (If you’re not sure what the sun, moon and rising signs are, don’t worry! Co-Star explains that too.) For each placement, Co-Star gives you an in-depth description of the character trait that corresponds to it. It also tells you what house each sign is in and what that means.

Daily Horoscope

One of the best aspects of this app is that it changes every day! Instead of directly telling you what the day will look like, Co-Star gives you some options. Each horoscope is headed by one question or statement, followed by a couple paragraphs about where your life might be headed right now. The first paragraph usually addresses any situations you might be facing that day, while the following two focus on longer term time periods, like that week or that month. After each horoscope, the app asks you if the feedback was useful to you, so if you’re not satisfied with a horoscope that maybe didn’t resonate, you can let them know!

Do’s And Don’ts

Along with your longer horoscope, Co-Star provides a little blurb on the home page that gives you a taste of the ideas the longer horoscope might feature. After the intro paragraph, the app lists out “dos” and “don’ts” of the day. These can be anything from actions to objects, or even ideas. For example, my Do’s of today are “morning mist,” “strong coffee,” and “journal.” My Don’ts are “sledgehammers,” “sharp objects” and “pity party.” My main statement at the top of my home page says “let go of your personal brand.” If you couldn’t tell, these messages are often vague or random, but that’s the fun of it! Feel free to pick and choose what resonates and leave the rest.

Connecting With Friends

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better! Co-Star is a social app on top of everything else, giving you the chance to add your friends based on their usernames like you would Instagram or Snapchat. On top of that, the app takes your chart and compares it to those of your friends. Each day, on top of your own horoscope, you get your own, personalized horoscope that assesses the relationship between you and each friend you’ve added.
