Considering everything she’s done over the past few months alone, it’s safe to say that 2023 has been Olivia Rodrigo’s year! From the release of her sophomore album GUTS to her single “Can’t Catch Me Now,” the singer-songwriter seems to be unstoppable. Given all that she’s achieved so early on in her career, it seems about time that we answer the question: what are the zodiac signs as Olivia Rodrigo songs?
Aries – Brutal
Like many of her other songs, “Brutal” contains themes of female rage and coming of age. We figured we’d pair the first song of SOUR with the first sign of the zodiac, as both immediately bring an intense energy to the situation. Despite its volume, guitar and powerful vocals, “Brutal” is full of anxiety – something Aries might like to pretend they don’t struggle with. This song is also perfect to scream in the car – something we think Aries could use a little more of.
Taurus – Ballad Of A Homeschooled Girl
“Each time I step outside, it’s social suicide” is a lyric we just know a lot of Tauruses can relate to. Known for being the homebody of the zodiac, Taurus can often find it difficult to come out of their shell, especially when it comes to large social events. They prefer places and people they know, with anything else potentially being considered a disaster in their eyes.
Gemini – Deja Vu
Gemini is often considered to be a social butterfly, adapting to the conversational needs of anyone they meet. Because of this, Gemini likes to think they’re a complete individual in every aspect of life. A situation like the one found in “Deja Vu” can have detrimental effects on Gemini’s self esteem. They don’t like to be considered as part of someone’s type, but as their own person.
Cancer – Favorite Crime
Intuitive, sentimental and loyal are three words we’d use to describe Cancer. With this song, however, the steadfast loyalty is to a fault. The song “Favorite Crime” revolves around someone who purposely ignored the red flags their partner had just so they could stay in a relationship with them. Cancers tend to be very good at giving emotional advice, but not necessarily listening to it themselves.
Leo – All-American Bitch
Leo is and forever will be that bitch. Passionate, headstrong and usually short-tempered, Leos have a knack for getting what they want out of life. However, just because they’re able to dominate a space with their charisma doesn’t mean they don’t face the same troubles as the rest of us. “I’m grateful all the time, I’m sexy and I’m kind. I’m pretty when I cry” might just be the affirmations Leo needs.
Virgo – Traitor
No sign does dependability quite like the earth signs do, and no earth sign does it like Virgo does. Virgos are hardworking, patient and responsible people, which unfortunately just makes it all the worse when they get let down. Despite being considered one of the more logical signs, we can definitely see Virgo purposely ignoring a cheating partner just to give themselves more time with them.
Libra – Bad Idea Right?
Libras have built up a multitude of reputations over the years. Some view them as hopeless romantics, while others see them as emotionally cold. In honor of this opposing combination of characteristics, we gave Libra the song that has the most internal debate. “I should probably, probably not” is definitely a phrase Libra has thought of at one point in their life. Sometimes even the most conflict-avoidant sign needs a little excitement.
Scorpio – Love Is Embarrassing
Although they’re a water sign, Scorpio likes to pretend they’re not. To a Scorpio, it can often be easier to fake being above all the emotional turmoil that they’re constantly feeling on a day-to-day basis than to actually face it. Like a Scorpio, “Love Is Embarrassing” sounds dismissive of the idea of emotion, when in actuality, all it is is heartache.
Sagittarius – Good 4 U
Just like Sagittarius, this song is the life of the party. Sagittarius loves being around people and attending social gatherings, but that aspect of them can change as soon as they feel they’ve been wronged. The lyrics are bold, passionate and honest, unafraid of confrontation.
Capricorn – Happier
Capricorns are practical, driven and hardworking – qualities they like to pretend translate over to their romantic relationships. When a Capricorn is heartbroken, they might find it easier to bury themselves in their work and act like they’re not bothered. “ I hope you’re happy, but don’t be happier” is definitely something a Capricorn would think.
Aquarius – Vampire
Those born under the Aquarius sign of the zodiac tend to be more creative, idealistic and independent. They have their own unique outlook on the world, which is why they can feel drained when caught in the wrong relationship. They can often find themselves giving a lot more than their partner, which could potentially allow them to relate to the lyric “bleeding me dry.”
Pisces – Driver’s License
If there’s any sign that’s most likely to drive around aimlessly while maladaptive daydreaming, it’s Pisces! The same can be said about reminiscing on a past relationship. It’s not uncommon for a Pisces to get lost in their emotions, to the point where it might concern those around them. Luckily, like Olivia Rodrigo herself, Pisces are often able to channel those emotions into their work.
