Makeup and skincare are always going viral on TikTok. Every now and then the viral product is actually really great. For example, the e.l.f hydrogrip and hydrogrip with niacinamide primer. They have become my go-to primer and I don’t see anything else topping that in the near future. Recently, a new mascara had gone viral on TikTok. Some of you may have seen videos of the famous metal wand mascara everyone had be hyping up. This is the Judy Doll mascara.

Judy Doll is a Chinese makeup brand founded in 2016 and it has gotten a lot of hype recently. At first, I was skeptical. I don’t always believe every review of all these viral TikTok products because of incidents like the Mikayla Nogueira mascara-gate. But all the Judy Doll mascara reviews I’ve seen just seemed really convincing. They were unpaid and not sponsored, which usually tells me that they like this product and are sharing it for no other reason besides that they like it. The TikTokers I saw raving about this product also had similar lashes to mine, so I thought, “Well if it’s working on them it’s probably going to work pretty well for me.”

So, I ran my butt to Yesstyle, an Asian beauty retailer website, and ordered the Judy Doll mascara. It was only $10 so it wasn’t much of a risk whether I liked it or not. Two weeks later, my package arrived. So without further ado, here is my Judy Doll mascara review.

I first started by curling my lashes, as I usually do. Then, I go on with the first coat. It was a very natural-looking formula. By the second and third coats, my lashes were lashing. The formula was on the drier side so it didn’t feel like the three coats were weighing down my lashes. And you don’t need to worry about sneezing and getting raccoon eyes with this formula.

After my makeup routine in the morning, I head up to the gym for leg day — the ultimate mascara test. Leg day is my most active and sweaty day of my workout split so this would definitely put the Judy Doll mascara to the test. And let me tell you, she did not smudge or anything at all. The curl held up so incredibly well. It looked just like when I first curled my lashes and applied the three coats. On top of leg day, I also did some light cardio. A “hot girl walk” if you will. This mascara did not move at all. By this time, it had been about three hours since the application — so it was holding up quite well.

After classes and work I get home at around 9 pm. So by now, I’ve had my makeup on for around 10 to 11 hours. This Judy Doll mascara completely blew my expectations out of the park. After a whole day of being out and about, she did not smudge or lose her curl. It still looked just like how it was when first applied. With my other mascaras that I would usually use, it would lose its curl within the first hour and smudge at least once or twice throughout the day.

Taking the mascara off proved to be difficult though. Micellar water did not work at all, and cleansing balms and oils did very little. Not only did this mascara not budge at all during the day, it was so hard to take off. But I guess that does show that this mascara is incredibly durable. I ended up getting it off with my cleansing balm and warm water after a few minutes but it was harder to take off than expected. No other mascara had ever held up so well that it was this hard to take off. I learned from my friend who also swears by Asian mascaras that an oil-based eye makeup remover will do the trick.

My Judy Doll mascara review is very positive. I can confidently say that this has now become my all-time favorite go-to masaras. It’s hard to find a mascara that will hold its curl on straight Asian lashes and not smudge. I thought I had to accept that this was just going to be something that would happen no matter what. My mind is changed and blown. I would highly recommend everyone to try this out — and for only $10 too! A massive bang for your buck.
