Q&A With Ezra Glatt

Tell us your story! Where did you begin and how did you reach the caliber you’re currently at?

Music has been part of my life since I was a child. My dad was a music teacher, and my first taste of music was the day of my birth, when he played me Bach on his classical guitar. However, music and songwriting was only a cathartic hobby for me until the pandemic. In 2020, when COVID first hit, I decide to start posting on TikTok. I figured “I’m a complete unknown, what do I have to loose”? I told myself I would post everyday for a month, and to my surprise a few people started following. That’s when I decided to try music as a career.

What makes you love what you do? How long have you been making music? Would you call it your passion?

I love music primarily for the feeling I get when writing music. To me, there is nothing more gratifying than coming up with a new melody and chords. Writing songs is one of the great passions of my life. I would keep writing songs (and I have) even if nobody was listening. I do it for the joy it gives me.

What are some accomplishments or milestones you’ve reached lately?

Last year I came out with my debut Album Pathways. An album is such a big step in the career of any musician, and it’s been heartwarming to receive DMs from folks who listen to the Album regularly. I’m also reaching a point on Spotify where I’m starting to see a bit of money come in. It’s nice to get even a little return on investment for all the time, money, and energy I have put into releasing music.

Tell us all about your latest project!

I’m in the midst of releasing singles from my second Album Endless (out on October 4th). For this project I wanted to write an album without overthinking. I wrote all the songs in a span of a month and recorded them quickly. It didn’t give me much time to overthink my song choices or let others dictate how I felt about the songs. As a result, this album feels like a true expression of my inner world. Endless is, at its heart, an album about accepting change. As anyone who listens to music knows, I have a healthy dose of nostalgia for my childhood. There are songs about this on the album (much like on Pathways). Endless goes further into the darker parts of my past. My struggles with mental health, self doubt, jealousy and more. However, all of the themes come together in greater narrative which is the acceptance of change and triumph over fear.

Do you have any advice for someone who might admire you? What do you think is the key to success?

My advice to anyone is, know what is in your control. We tend to waste time desperately trying to change things we have no control over. For example, how people react to your music. You have no control over this. So just focus on being the best you can be and hope the rest works out. To be clear, I am still working on implementing my own advice!

What do you want our readers to know about you?

I enjoy chess, basketball, and spending my little money on food in my free time.
