Tell us your story! Where did you begin and how did you reach the caliber you’re currently at?
I’ve been composing on the piano since I was 10! When Covid hit, I started to take my songwriting a little more seriously and began producing on this crappy free software called band lab. But shout out BandLab because I made my whole first album on that. It wasn’t mixed. It wasn’t mastered. It sounded like I was singing in a tin can! But the songwriting was real and raw and I’m still so proud of it today. Fast forward a few years I’ve been taking social media more seriously and that has grown my audience quite a bit. I’ve also had the opportunity to collaborate with some great mixing and mastering engineers to get my songs sounding fantastic! My newest endeavor has been adding metal screams to soft piano and string based ballads. I’ve been a metalhead for as long as I can remember and one day I thought— hey maybe I can do this metal screaming thing. Turns out others liked the idea too, and my songs like “BOTTOMLESS” and “Billboard Signs” have gotten a lot of recognition for that genre bending style.
What makes you love what you do? How long have you been making music? Would you call it your passion?
I think for songwriters, there’s something built different in us that makes us see the world in a different way. I’ll walk down the street and something will triggered the idea of a song. Or I’ll see a social media post and a melody will pop into my head. It’s like there’s a dragon in our chest, clawing and breathing fire and begging to be let out to go fly into the world. I love the process, I truly do but it’s that dragon that keeps me making music. It has to come out. I feel it.
What are some accomplishments or milestones you’ve reached lately?
I had a really awesome experience this summer when I was interning at a music production company and a song of mine actually got chosen to play in the background of a commercial! This was huge for my career path of film scoring which I’m also really interested in in addition to songwriting! Also, I am super lucky to have some of my songs recently reach 20,000 streams, which is a small number but for me it’s a huge milestone.
Tell us all about your latest project!
Oh man, “The Stars And Jupiter”. This song has a crazy story. I work as a freelance songwriter on platforms like Fiverr and songglorious as my side hustle while in college. And this song came about actually as an order for a customer. When I delivered them the finished product they didn’t love it and wanted it to be redone. I knew there was something special about it and I didn’t wanna let it go so I offered to make an entirely new song and keep the stars and Jupiter for myself. And that’s exactly what happened. That’s the song that with a bunch of help from great mixing and mastering people was released on Spotify most recently. It just hit 10,000 streams which I’m thrilled about! It uses the genre I’ve created that combines metal screams and soft ballads into an epic space themed love song.
Do you have any advice for someone who might admire you? What do you think is the key to success?
I don’t know if I’m one to give advice yet since I’m such a tiny artist still! But I would say balance is the key. There was a period of about a year where I was killing myself posting every single day spending every free second on music. And that’s just not sustainable for long. So find your other hobbies— get out and go outside, spend time with the people you love, and have music be like a good friend you can come back to at the end of a long day— not something you’re forced to do.
What do you want our readers to know about you?
A lot of people say this, but you truly will have never heard anything like my music before. If you’re a metalhead who also loves soft ballads like Billie Eilish, I am combining those two genres in a way that has never been done before. Go listen to my most recent singles. Trust me! I love you guys! Keep making and listening to music!
