Q&A With Colin Bracewell

colin bracewell

This is an interview done with Colin Bracewell, read his story below! If you, or anyone you know, would like to be highlighted in The Zillennial Zine, shoot us an email at thezillennialzine@gmail.com or DM us on Instagram!

Tell us your story! Where did you begin and how did you reach the caliber you’re currently at?

Began playing violin at the young age of 4 years old in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. My whole family had an instrument they grew up playing on so that was mine. I quickly found my love for musical theater and began doing shows, singing, and tap dancing. Fast forward to today (and picking up a few instruments on the way) I started my solo project while attending the University of Minnesota and still incorporate those instruments and theater into my songwriting and performing.

What makes you love what you do? How long have you been making music? Would you call it your passion?

4 years old up to now, it’s the performing that I enjoy most, but creating all forms of art (acting, videos, songwriting, production, visual, writing, collaboration) is my passion.

What are some accomplishments or milestones you’ve reached lately?

Sold out 7th St Entry 3 times! Played First Avenue (where Prince performed and shot “Purple Rain” at), Went on tour this past July!!

Tell us all about your latest project!

Colin’s 4 song EP, Cozy, delivers a taste of genre-hopping songs served with the pop hooks that he is known for. The set was co-produced with Chris Hoge (Bad Bad Hats) and saw Bracewell exclusively songwriting on each track.

Do you have any advice for someone who might admire you? What do you think is the key to success?

Keeping music top of mind is always the goal. You can have so much fun going to shows and discovering new music, it doesn’t always have to be about you. Anything can be inspiration.

What do you want our readers to know about you?

I’m an indie-rock artist from Minneapolis, MN but I was born in Canada (for all of you Canadians out there). Check out my stuff and I hope you like something.
