New year, new fashion. As we enter the end of January which kicks off Milan Fashion Week 2025, trends, styles, and chic vibes are already being noticed across social media. Fashion Week predicts the trends and hot styles for the upcoming seasons and they are fun! Men’s and women’s fashion statements are already being made on the runway, by celebrities, and even at the presidential inauguration. If you’re someone interested in fashion and discovering what is hot and trending across the globe for Fall and Winter ‘25 keep reading to find out!
Mens Evolving Looks
Many times when we think of fashion week or couture on the runway we are drawn to womens pieces and collections. This is for good reason as there is always a wide selection of women’s fashion which is amazing for us ladies. However, in recent times men’s fashion is taking off for one reason, the negative stigma of dressing up and having a creative wardrobe is no longer frowned upon or questioned. It is being noticed all around the world and I believe this is because many industry professionals like athletes, musicians, artists, and actors are very influential with their style these days. One example is Pharrell Williams, who is an immensely successful American musician and record producer, who has recently become the new creative director for the men’s collections at Louis Vuitton. To kick off Milan Fashion Week he debuted his Fall 2025 Menswear line which brought out the best street style fits, athletes, and celebrities in attendance. These looks embodied class and timeless aesthetic with browns, neutrals, plaid, ties, and more!
Presidential Press
Fashion influence and trend forecasting can be inspired all over the world and sometimes in unexpected events. One notable event was the presidential inauguration that very recently took place and many memorable outfits were seen on camera. Regardless of political position, I think we fashion connoisseurs can always appreciate a well-put-together and elegant look. The first dance at the inaugural ball followed by the liberty ball, there is a rich history of the finest formal outfits worn by the women in attendance. Ivanka Trump wore a custom black and white Givenchy gown that recreated the 1954 look worn by Audrey Hepburn giving a very classy and vintage look, accessorized with long black gloves. The new First Lady Melania was seen wearing a silk wool coat and skirt by Adam Lippes with a somber-looking flat, wide-brim hat disguising most of her face, perhaps sending a message. These black and white looks were very notable and tied into the common upcoming trend of a vintage and timeless aesthetic.
From Film To Fashion
Another trend prediction for Fall/Winter ‘25 is dark, lace, and more goth aesthetic in fashion. Notorious fashion sites like WWD are calling it the #Witchy aesthetic. It is even a TikTok trend that people are using while posting their fit checks. Trends like this stem from all over but I think recently released films have had a huge influence on this trend. For example, Joker 2: Folie á Deux, Beetlejuice 2, and Wicked were everywhere on social media and eventually in stores, collaborations, commercials, and more. Movies, press tours, and actors present many influential fashion statements for people to pick up, and eventually, designers emulate them on the runway. Wicked did collaborations with several apparel, accessory, and cosmetic companies that were very influential. Dolce & Gabbana’s very recent Mens FW ‘25 pictured some of the old Hollywood look with big fur coats and clean-cut tuxedos. The fashion world combines art, design, and culture seamlessly.
Off The Runway
For those of us that have closets that are more lowkey and not couture, some cozy trends to look out for will have you looking like the chic “coastal grandmother”. Whether you live somewhere where it snows or barely gets below sixty degrees, fall and winter calls for sweaters. Pinterest can confirm that for 2025 the cable-knit sweaters, Fair Isle knits, and anything with stripes will be trending. Even celebrities like Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Garner have been spotted wearing comfy and cute sweaters and pullovers. Oversized and baggy is something that Gen-Z has taken over and it is seen in this trend as well. Who doesn’t want to be comfortable, cute, and cozy? It’s a win-win. Plus. Sweaters can always be dressed up and paired with some straight-legged jeans or leather pants and a cute boot. A winter staple always calls for a good sweater. Check out more styles and shopping ideas here.
Let’s Talk Shoes!
A stylish outfit cannot be complete without a good pair of shoes. Here are some fun shoes that are predicted to be popular for Fall/Winter 2025. Starting with Uggs, we know those are everywhere! And UGG took note of their popular Tazz shoe that blew up on social media and landed on many Christmas lists. Because of the popularity, they revamped the shoe where the sole is waterproof and has a colorful base, they are calling it the Tasman Weather Hybrid. It will not be for everyone but it is a practical way to wear comfy shoes in harsh winter weather. Next is a fun twist on normal sneakers which is accessorizing them with charms. Pearls, broaches, and more can be added to sneakers just like bag charms bring fun to purses. Miu Miu came out with a similar design for their sneakers. Lastly, ballet flats are making a comeback with an edge. From ankle and strap detailing to fun animal prints these shoes can become winter-appropriate and stylish.
While this article is just a sneak peek into what we are going to see throughout fashion week, I think these trends and predictions are something to get excited about! I think one of the great things about fashion is its creativity, individualism, and perspective so you don’t have to follow trends or keep up with the latest and still look great.
