Believe me; I thought the same thing when I downloaded the mobile game for the first time in October of last year (Not to mention the amount of storage I’ve lost since its premiere on my iPhone 13). But, let me sit you down and tell you the whole nine. One faithful evening, I was scrolling through my TikTok For You Page, minding my business, looking at Kenji Sato (from Ultraman: Rising) edits from my elite collection folder. Suddenly, I exited the folder, scrolled through my For You Page, and noticed a white-haired, red-eyed, tall figure appear on my phone. In an edit fashion, he said, with the buildup music in the background, “Yes, no, maybe so?” (For research purposes, the edit is down below for your joy and pleasure)
But, plot twist! You have to read more about my two cents on this Love and Deepspace game review!
Love and Deepspace has become a popular otome game created by a Singapore-based company called Infold Games, which highlights five main love interests that go through trials and tribulations with MC (Main Character) to discover why she owns a unique artifact called an Aether Core. The main love interests hold a special connection with the MC from the past to the present.
Love and Deepspace Game Review: First Impressions On Main Story
WHAT A WHIRLWIND OF A MAIN STORY! I was not expecting to be customizing my MC, learning about the Hunter Association, training to become a hunter (apparently, there are battles in a romance otome game!?), and meeting one of my first love interests right off the bat! I’m sorry, but this is the first time I have ever played an Otome game, and I am thrown into the jugular. It makes me so ecstatic! Let me give you a quick rundown on the first part of the main story with some help from Infold Games’ description!
Synopsis
In 2034, humanity received its first message from Deepspace.
Although the transmission remained shrouded in mystery, it ignited people’s curiosity to explore the universe and discover unknown civilizations. This is the origin of the epic tale known as the Deepspace Legend.
Yet with the arrival of this cosmic message, creatures called Wanderers appeared and attacked humans. Thus, the Deepspace Hunter was born.
Because of a childhood incident, you were determined to become a Deepspace Hunter. After graduating from college, you joined the Hunters Association and met many companions along the way—Xavier, a mysterious hunter, Rafayel, a passionate artist, and Zayne, a talented cardiac surgeon…
However, your seemingly normal life disappeared on that rainy night. Your childhood “nightmare” has reemerged…
Mind you, this is the first message when you go through all of the resource downloading and unzipping of data that my poor iPhone has to carry from now on. Without giving too much away, MC is embarking on meeting new characters as she tries to understand her Resonance Evol (her power), which helps make another person’s Evol even more powerful. Highkey, she’s eating with her power for real! Also, remember when I said I had to train for battle? Oh, it gets real serious! Look at the one of the battles below!
The main story is broken down into several sections. Throughout the story, she meets Xavier, Zayne, Rafayel, Sylus, and now the newly added character, Caleb! Now, this is where the real hype of the game comes in!
Xavier: Star Hunter
Every time MC meets a love interest, a story branch is unlocked, and she gets to explore their territory and personality! Firstly, we start off with our starry prince named Xavier! Xavier is one of the top-performing hunters in the Hunter Association, and he knows his way around a sword, okay! He uses unique combos involving light and is one of the first people she resonates with in the main story!
Coming in with a tall stature and a youthful glow, you would not expect Xavier to always be sleepy and complain about fighting Wanderers (the general name of monsters in the game). But here we are! His boyish charm makes me kick my feet a little, just a little. He does not appeal to me as much in the game as the other four. Why is that, you may ask? I’m biased, but he is a good character to fight with during the battles because of his powerful hits with his signature sword.
To keep the ball rolling, Xavier does have an excellent personality for those who want the quiet, calm, and collected love interest as their favorite to play with me. (Of course, I like a little chaos.)
Rafayel: Lemurian Painter
Next up on our list is our outstanding painter, Rafayel! At first glance, I thought this 3D man would be graceful, poised, and elegant because, in my mind, all painters are cool and awesome like that. But, oh my goodness, the sassiness level is on 1000 with this one! Rafayel is one of the original three love interests in the game, and she becomes his “bodyguard” for a short time. With his wittiness, playfulness, and a boatload of sassiness, he became a second favorite in my book! (I am on level 61 with him; he’s getting up there with my favorite! I will reveal later!)
In the main story and his special branch, I learned that Rafayel has lived multiple past lives with MC and has fond memories with her! He is not just a mysterious painter; he is Lemurian (basically, he’s a fish, gulp, gulp!) He used to live in Lemuria, an ancient civilization in the ocean, in a past life. But, GASP! He became loyal to MC in his past life, and in the story, once Lemurians bond with someone, they are loyal to them forever! The amount of shock I felt when I read this. Mouth agape!
Rafayel is such a sweetheart; he would never harm the MC because of their past connection! Despite his connection with the ocean, his Evol is fire! (Which is just so cool, in my opinion, like HELLO!?) I do not, repeat, DO NOT WANT TO SPOIL HIS LORE! Infold Games did an incredible job explaining every fine detail; you may have to read it yourself! But look at Rafayel in all of their glory in this little clip below!
Zayne: Childhood Friend Doctor
And the best part is, there are more of them! Zayne is one of MC’s childhood friends who is a doctor at one of the leading hospitals in Linkon City! Now, Zayne’s special Evol is ice, and it relates to his tragic backstory of sacrificing himself for the MC in a past life! I’m telling MC is just exploring in different realms and dimensions! Because, how did she meet all of them at different times…
Anywho! Zayne is definitely for those who love a stoic, professional, well-kept love interest to be their favorite! He deeply cares for the MC, and he shows that through his actions in his story branch, like taking her out to a cafe and checking up on her health whenever she is in the hospital. Also, he is very well-versed in finding abnormalities and knows about MC’s condition with an Aether Core! Throughout the story, he helps her find people who were attacked by Wanderers and saves them from excruciating deaths! What a sweetheart, I’ll say! He is definitely my number three because his caring nature makes my heart smile like COME ON! If I was MC (well I am MC), marriage may be on the table! Enjoy this small clip of Zayne being such a cutie!
Sylus: Green Flag N109 Zone Boss
OH MY GOSH, THE TIME HAS COME! This character is my favorite one from the game! Not only because he is rich and stands on business, but he is the most green flag character you can ever meet. When I first met Sylus in the game, I was so excited because I could see what the hype was about! To my surprise, he is mean in his story branch. OOP! But, he softens a bit throughout his branch towards MC and helps her get into the N109 Zone. Think of the N109 Zone as the “bad area” in the game.
They have many Wanderers there, so the reasoning is valid. Sylus is the fourth love interest to enter Love and Deepspace, and his anticipation of his release is severely high. For this Love and Deepspace game review, I am pretty clearly biased towards him. I mean, look at the video above of us battling together!
Sylus’ connection with MC harks back to when he was a dragon! He was a young dragon, and MC was accused of being a dragon because of her Evol. Together, they went on an adventure to understand one another. Furthermore, MC gave Sylus his name because he didn’t have a name other than Fiend. Cue the waterworks! MY HEART! Honestly, Sylus’s backstory and story branch kept me at the edge because he remembers everything about MC. She doesn’t remember him, which is very much heartbreaking! Sylus is the symbol of never judging a book by its cover. His love for MC carries on for centuries and he would do anything for her! I highly recommend checking out Sylus in the game because Infold ate with their writing for this character! Okay, now enjoy this clip of Sylus teasing the MC!
Caleb: Childhood Friend Colonel
Now Caleb! Caleb is the fifth main love interest to join the game, but surprisingly, fans have seen him before he was formally introduced as one. Mind you, I was completely shocked when they revealed that his character will now be playable! In the main story, I was introduced to Caleb as another childhood friend close to MC for a very long time. MC was living with him and her Grandma! However, their house blew up when MC stepped outside, and there was an indication that Caleb was dead. Well, Infold said, “Well, no.” Honestly, playing Caleb’s story branch was fascinating and intriguing! I had so many questions, specifically, “HOW ARE YOU ALIVE AND A COLONEL!?”
Caleb is now a colonel for the fleet in Skyhaven, a new world in the Deepspace. Because he was recently unlocked, there isn’t much content to go through for Caleb yet! However, I am very excited because there is so much to unpack with his character. Here is a cute card from Caleb!
In all honesty, I think that this game is an absolute masterpiece. Every character has its own storyline, and they are interconnected in so many ways!
