Q: Tell us your story! Where did you begin, and how did you reach the caliber you’re currently at?

A: I grew up in Brenham, Texas, in a low-income family, and music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I was involved in band, theater, and choir, which helped shape my artistry early on. When I moved to Austin, I saw how competitive the music scene was and realized I had to create my own space.

In the summer of 2022, I officially became Jennun, blending Latin, house, pop, and rap into something unique. But this journey hasn’t just been about music—it’s been about growth, self-discovery, and stepping out of my comfort zone. I’ve learned to embrace change, take risks, and trust that my detailed vision matters, even when others don’t see it.

Each project pushes me to be better, and my latest release, QMVA (Quien Me Va Amar), marks a new chapter—one that’s even more personal, raw, and true to who I am.

Q: What are some accomplishments or milestones you’ve reached lately?

A: This past year has been a whirlwind! This time last year, I was invited to perform as an official artist for SXSW 2024. I became a GRAMMY U Member, and shortly after, I became a GRAMMY U Ambassador, with a feature in the Recording Academy newsletter for Hispanic Heritage Month.

I was also invited to The Morning Grind on KAZI 88.7FM in Austin to promote my song Between You and Me, and I’ve also been featured on KOOP 91.7FM, another Austin radio station that showcases local artists. Being able to share my music and story on these platforms has been an incredible experience, allowing me to connect with more people who resonate with my journey.

I even stepped into modeling, walking in the Models of Texas fashion show, and look forward to more modeling and working in commercial acting.

In October, I attended Miami Latin Billboard Week as a VIP, which was an unforgettable experience. Being surrounded by some of the biggest names in Latin music was inspiring and reaffirmed my passion for growing as an artist in this space.

On the music side, QMVA is a major milestone—it’s my first fully Spanish song and a turning point toward my Latin/Pop sound. It’s also my first release with a new producer, which challenged me to trust new creative relationships and step out of my comfort zone.

Q: Tell us all about your latest project!

A: QMVA (Quien Me Va Amar) is one of my most personal releases yet. It’s about love, dreams, and the reality of chasing something bigger than yourself. At 26, I thought I’d have a real relationship or even be married by now, but life didn’t unfold that way. Instead of dwelling on that, I turned my emotions into music.

This song explores my high standards in love—I want someone who respects me and supports me as I chase my dreams. But I also recognize that I can be hard to love because of how busy I am. QMVA is me asking, who will love me for who I am?

I started working on this song in May 2024. MEA CULPA produced the beat, and we recorded it at TRCOA (The Recording Conservatory of Austin), primarily with Anthony Vargas and some help from MEA CULPA. It went through multiple rounds of mixing and mastering—first with MEA CULPA, then with Ian Michael at Look North Recordings for the final master.

This project also challenged me in ways I didn’t expect. I struggle with perfectionism, and every little detail matters to me. Sometimes, that makes it hard to meet deadlines, and I’ve had to learn how to communicate my vision more clearly. This process taught me that while my attention to detail is what makes my art me, I also need to find balance so I can keep creating at a higher level.

Most importantly, this project helped me heal. Working with a new producer and stepping outside of my comfort zone reminded me that growth happens when you embrace change.

Q: Do you have any advice for someone who might admire you?

A: Be yourself, and don’t be afraid to demand more for yourself. Have high standards for your art, your relationships, and the way you’re treated. People might dismiss your vision or say you’re too particular, but you are the only one who truly sees where you’re going.

Also, step out of your comfort zone. Every time I’ve leveled up, it’s been because I took a risk and bet on myself. Growth is uncomfortable, but it’s worth it.

Q: What do you think is the key to success?

A: Think less. Do more. Consistency and adaptability. A lot of talented people never make it because they don’t keep going. You have to be relentless—keep creating, keep learning, and keep showing up, even when it feels like no one is watching.

At the same time, the industry moves fast, and you have to evolve with it. QMVA is a great example of that for me—it’s a shift into my Latin/Pop sound, something that feels more authentic to who I am now. If you want longevity, you have to be willing to grow.

Q: What do you want our readers to know about you?

A: That everything I do is intentional. My music, my visuals, my performances—I obsess over the details because I want people to feel something when they experience my art.

I also want people to know that I’m still growing. I don’t have it all figured out, but I’m constantly pushing myself to be better.

And lastly—this is just the beginning.

Q: Anything else you would like to add?

A: If you’ve been supporting me—thank you. If you’re just now discovering me, welcome to the journey. QMVA is just the start of a new era for me, and I can’t wait to share what’s next.

Stay tuned.
