Every Sims player has been patiently waiting for an updated game release of the Sims since the Sims 4 dropped back in 2014. Yes, you read that right; it was over 10 years since the Sims 4 broke headlines across the gaming industry. With endless expansion packs and mod creators creating content to make the game enjoyable, it is coming to a point where the Sims players are tired. Shoot, I am tired. The Sims 3 didn’t have as many expansion packs when running our computers’ fans, and the custom content/mods were suitable for any update. So, more and more Sims players are trying to find a new outlet, something fresh and exciting. And behold, there was speculation of a new life simulation game since 2023 from Krafton.
Better graphics? ✅
Better content creation for avatars? ✅
Realistic gameplays and spontaneous actions? ✅
InZOI’s early access release was on March 28, 2025, and Sims players are impressed by Krafton’s ability to emulate reality and combine AI-generated content with its newly developed game. But is it better than the Sims? One way to find out!
What Is InZOI? How Did It Start?
There isn’t much information about how the game started or content about its creation in 2023. However, I can give you information about Krafton, InZOI, and InZOI producer’s feelings about the game. (I tried researching far and wide, folks). Krafton Inc. is a South Korean game publisher known for collaborating and operating with other studios such as PUBG Studios, Bluehold Studio, Dreamotion, and more! The company began in 2018 and has continued to gain its footing in the gaming industry by promoting games from console to mobile! Fun fact: I did not know that Krafton was behind Mini Golf King because that game was everywhere on social media around 2017-2018.
But why did Krafton decide to start a life simulation game? The answer is that we don’t know the complete answer yet! But a few journalists have talked to the producer of InZOI for more insight!
The producer of InZOI, Hyungjun Kim, has not been silent about his opinion of the game! In this article, he stated that he understands why The Sims have dominated the life simulation category for over two decades, which is because of the intricacies and demanding development. He also said in the article that he is a fan of the Sims and heavily admired its continuous run.
But is InZOI supposed to compete with the Sims? Did Hyungjun Kim notice the decline of Sims players? Is he active on social media to see everyone’s reviews on the Sims? I don’t know, and Kraton Inc. has not yet issued as much background information about the game. However, a few differences between the Sims and InZOI are significant to note to see which one you want to partake in.
Main Storyline? Yes, Please!
If you create a new game in the Sims 4, you are transported to Create-a-Sim. You can choose whether to make your first sim with a custom storyline by answering a series of questions, or you can go ahead and design your avatar! After that, you are open to free range on how you want your Sims’ life to be, which includes career, relationships, life aspirations, family relations, living situation, and more! Think of the Sims 4 as if you are playing as a higher being and you control everything in the Sims world. Check out this video to get a general gist of it!
For InZOI, you are already in a storyline! According to the video below, the avatar is an employee for a company run by a cat (the most adorable thing ever). The cat’s name is Psykhet! Psykhet is the “higher being” in the game, where it controls people in the town “Zoi.” So, all employees determine how to control the people in Zoi! This ranges from their thoughts, moods, relationships, careers, and more! Think of it as we (the employees) are playing a simulation (Zoi) within a simulation (InZOI/the players). Honestly, the concept is absolutely amazing and original! I highly recommend watching this video to get an in-depth game analysis!
Graphic Quality? What a Difference!
One of the major differences between the Sims and InZOI is the graphic quality! When I first saw InZOI’s “version of “Create a Sim,” “Create a Sim” version, my mouth was agape! The realism of the characters was absolutely incredible! Sims 4 custom content creators have been perfecting for years for more realistic gameplay for players, and InZOI found the key! InZOI’s Create a Zoi is a free-range zone. You can customize your avatar from any angle, dimension, and style! Of course, there are templates like the Sims 4 to begin with. However, InZOI ultimately beats the Sims 4 out of the park with its advanced graphic design and character customization! Mind you, this is still early access!
The graphic quality is very much apparent in InZOIs Blueprint Studio! Yup, it is just like the Sims 4 Build Mode. Both versions have the same features to help you design and customize your ideal place. However, the Sims 4 has more options for different interior designs, from Mediterranean to Gothic, because the Sims 4’s extensive expansion packs allow users to mix and match with other styles to create their homes. For InZOI’s Blueprint Studio, realism is a drawback to the game’s creativity in interior design. Once the game updates, I am sure there will be more options to play around with! Create a Zoi?
From this video, this player does a complete rundown of the features of InZOI! The “Create a Zoi” still has the same features as Create a Sim (because the Sims is literally the pioneer). One of the few differences between both games is that in Create a Zoi, there is a feature called “Desired Life.” This feature is a template of what lifestyle you would like to have. If you hover over one of the options, it will show you what traits align with it, the skills, and more! The Sims 4 does have a similar concept to “Neighborhood Stories.” “Neighborhood Stories” allows players to use preset Sims to experience lifestyle changes throughout the game.
Another completely new feature in InZOI is the “AI Texture” feature. Think of it as ChatGPT as a fashion designer. So, you can click on a preset clothing item. Then, you can click the feature and type whatever pattern you want the clothing item to look like. You can be as creative as you want! Generative AI has been a topic of debate for creative spaces in recent years. The feature is very new, and who knows if the developers will keep it for their next update. It is a cool feature to play around with, so deciding to play with it as a user is up to you!
Everything else in Create a Zoi has features similar to Create a Sim! The realism aspect is the kicker, which appeals to most Sims 4 players!
What’s Next for InZOI?
There is speculation that the game’s first update will be in May! The guide for the potential updates is linked here! In May, there will be new furniture and outfits. Also, there will be improvements towards Create a Zoi and more! The game wastes no time ensuring players are happy with its content! If I were in Electronic Arts, I would be on the lookout!
