There are four seasons of “Ugly Betty,” each giving you a different reason to become fond of all the characters. In season one, we witnessed Betty Suarez take on several challenges. It wasn’t just her taking on different obstacles. Everyone around her was dealing with something, whether it was big or small. With each season, the character development was more noticeable in some than others. Which Ugly Betty character are you? Are you Season One Daniel Meade? You may be more like Season Four Amanda Tanen. Let’s go over the personalities and traits of the main characters in Ugly Betty, and you decide who you’re most like!

Season 1

Technically, we can refer to season 1 as the rigid timeline before anyone in the show had any glow-up. However, that does not mean everyone lacks good personality traits! Take Betty, for example. She was full of beautiful traits but lacked some knowledge, but that’s part of the reason why we loved season one, Betty.

If you’re anything like Betty from the first season, you’re probably down-to-earth and ready to dream big within the corporate world. You most likely enjoy flashy, colorful outfits such as panchos. There’s even a chance you enjoy a positive affirmation at the start of your day. You’re family-oriented, clumsy, shy but fierce, creative, and smiley.

Someone not so smiley in season one? Daniel Meade. He is smug, immature, and inconsiderate. However, this makes sense as he had just gotten his editor-in-chief job at Mode because he is Bradford Meade’s only son. Aside from his professional traits, outside of work, Daniel is a total playboy who has no intentions of settling down. He’s also a tad irresponsible when it comes to his finances. And those are the traits of anyone who is most like Daniel. We listen, and we don’t judge. We all grow up over time!

Know how to make an entrance? You might be more like Wilhelmina Slater, who always knows how to run a meeting or make an unexpected entrance. You’re most likely fashion-savvy, straightforward, flirty, a little mean, mysterious, sassy, sneaky, and a workaholic. Work, work, work!

Talking about workaholics, maybe you’re more like Marc St. James, who has an itch for everything fashion. As Wilhelmina’s assistant, his fashion instincts always have to be on point. In other words, he can’t stop slaying or serving looks because she’ll put him down. Marc is secretly sweet- a sour patch, if you will. He’s creative, sassy, innovative, reliable, and loyal.

Flirty, open to love, and effortlessly fashionable? That’s Amanda Tanen. She’s Marc’s bestie and Daniel’s fling from time to time. She’s the first face everyone sees when they walk into Mode, mostly because she’s the front desk receptionist.

Everyone needs a reliable bestie! Perhaps you’re someone’s Christina McKinney, always showing up even when times are hard. You are thoughtful and think about others around you, even if it means taking some of the heat from bullies. Gosh, you’re even a trendsetter in fashion because you create beautiful outfits. You’re also funny, honest, kind, talented, and fun!

Hilda Suarez keeps that big sister energy every season, constantly reminding Betty that family is important. If you’re into having your own unique style, this one might be for you. Hilda is not afraid to be herself, even if others judge her. As a single mom, she knows how to nurture those around her while remaining resilient. She’s outgoing, flirtatious, brave, and wise.

It’s no wonder Betty and Hilda are all about family when their father, Ignacio Suarez, raised them alone after their mother passed. Ignacio is every foodie’s favorite uncle because he does not play around with his recipes. As a natural in the kitchen, Ignacio is not afraid to put out fires when others need him. He’s sweet, nurturing, compassionate, talented, and old school. Don’t worry! Mr. Saurez is not too old school. He is very progressive and open-minded.

We all witnessed Justin Suarez grow up in every sense of the word. Hilda raised him to love himself no matter what, but the way he loves others around him is endearing. Justin is fashion-savvy, caring, feisty, wise beyond his years, and charismatic.

Other Seasons

Still unsure which Ugly Betty character you are? I got you! Character development is where it’s at. I can assure you that in season one, Daniel is nothing compared to his character growth in season three or four. Oh! And yes, it was sad to see some characters leave as the seasons progressed, but luckily, they all had good storylines. Not to mention, Betty flourished in a short amount of time. After all, the entire series is only four seasons long.

Remember how Betty was new to the corporate world? Shy? And clumsy? Well, she continued to be clumsy throughout the rest of the show but shy and new to corporate after working all those long hours? She was not. If you’re confident, dream big, and are goal-oriented, you’re most likely Betty in seasons two through four. She’s also a hopeless romantic, but can you blame her? With so many options, of course, she wanted to find the one! Betty learned how to establish boundaries, love herself, and put her career first. We call that the ultimate character development. She even learned a thing or two about the fashion world.

As I mentioned before season four, Daniel is who you want to be most like. If you’re honest, dedicated, protective, responsible, and well-seasoned in your career, you’re Daniel Meade. You may even consider traveling and getting in touch with your emotions if you’re anything like Daniel. Spoiler alert! He becomes a big softy and Betty’s bestie.

Who’s also Betty’s bestie? Well, not Wilhelmina Slater, but she does become fond of her as a person and a colleague, which should paint a picture. Is Wilhelmina a fan of Betty? Yes! By the end of the show, she becomes focused on what family means to her, and she’s even open to love. In season four, Wilhelmina Slater is vulnerable, honest, kind, and emotionally intelligent. So, if you’re all about self-care, this might be you.

How ironic that by the end of the show, Marc is the one who becomes Wilhelmina’s role model. His change in morality leads to his growth as a person, which in turn inspires her to change. If you have reasonable core values, are emotionally available, and are sassy, you’re Marc!

Wait, maybe you’re Amanda? The last time we saw her in season one, she was off to no good, but in season four? She’s fierce! You’re Amanda if you have a newly found career that speaks volumes to you or recently rekindled a relationship with your long-lost parent. There’s also the fact that she’s responsible, friendly, and has standards.

Which Ugly Betty Character are you? Still thinking? We have a few more to choose from.

Although Christina left in season three after finding out Wilhelmina’s baby was hers, she returned for one episode during season four. Maybe you’re like season four, Christina. She’s accomplished, confident, popular, artsy, and funny!

Is traveling more up your alley? In season four, Hilda is all about being spontaneous and following your heart. As she preps for her big day down the aisle, she’s excited about life. She’s fulfilled in her career, a total love bug with years of wisdom. Although her personality is still the same, she’s generous, more open-minded, and a better listener.

Boy, oh boy! We literally watched Justin become his most authentic self throughout the seasons. Much like his younger self in season one, at the end of season four, we witness him accepting his truest self. Are you comfortable with your gender identity and looking to seize the day while looking fabulous? Then you’re Justin!

Alright, this is the last chance to channel your inner Ignacio Saurez! If you’re into cooking and hustling, then you’re Ignacio. Throughout season four, Mr. Suarez becomes more independent, supportive of others, and understanding.
