A lot of us have been seeing painting, bedazzling canvas, and pilates trending. But move over to pilates, there’s a new hot girl sport in town and it’s got a paddle. Pickleball is so in, pickleball, once a lowkey sport played by suburban dads and retirement communities, is now officially that girl. Fast-paced, social, and surprisingly competitive, it’s become the go-to sweat session for cool girls who like their workouts served with a side of aesthetic. But just like any worthy activity in the hot girl universe, half the fun is in the ‘fit. Whether you’re playing in a league or hitting the court for fun (and Instagram stories), your pickleball outfit is your uniform of confidence, performance, and of course, style. So I am here to be your guide for everything pickleball outfits and accessories so let’s break down the must-haves for your next match, so you can serve on and off the court!
The Skirt or Skort: Flirty Meets Functional
Pickleball is practically tennis with a more chill vibe and way less running so it is very acceptable to follow the wardrobe you’d wear to a tennis match. A classic tennis-style skirt is basically pickleball’s power move. The built-in shorts mean you’re covered during every lunge and serve, while the pleated or A-line cut adds a preppy punch. Some skirts even have built-in pockets you can throw your phone in or even extra wiffle balls to have on hand. Amazon has a very cute pleated option or if you want something more simple Nike has a classic tennis skirt that comes in very fun Spring colors like butter yellow, orange, and pink! Look for moisture-wicking fabric and a phone pocket for bonus points. Skirts are a very cute and fun option for playing and you can pair them with pretty much any athletic top but if you are looking for something extra cute and feminine, I recommend a cute tennis dress. Pretty much every athletic brand like Lululemon, Alo, Vuori, Nike, and more carries athletic dresses that are perfect for pickleball. If you are looking for a more affordable option Amazon has a cute dress that is adjustable and has built-in shorts. Also, if you’re like me and an amateur pickleballer and just like to have fun and look cute, Oh Polly has an adorable open-back dress in fun and bright colors! But hurry fast, their sizes are selling out quickly! I would say skirts and athletic dresses are a great choice for your pickleball fit and with built-in shorts and bra pads you are sure to be secured and ready to go when you play!
Sneakers: Grip or Drip ( Why Not Both?)
Having a cute and sporty outfit is definitely important when hitting the pickleball courts but there is one essential item that will ensure you perform your best and that is sneakers. You need shoes that can move. Pickleball involves quick side-to-side shuffles and lunges, so look for court shoes with strong lateral support. Bonus if they’re cute enough to grab brunch afterward. When looking for sneakers also consider cushioning, look for lightweight foam or gel technology to protect your knees and keep you comfortable through long rallies. Durability is important because outdoor courts can be rough on your soles. Go for tough outsoles that grip without wearing down too quickly. Breathability is a must, mesh upper or vented material will help keep your feet cool, even when the competition heats up. But let’s not pretend we’re not here for the aesthetic too. The new wave of court sneakers is equal parts function and fashion, blending high-performance features with retro flair and clean silhouettes. Choose sneakers with bold pops of color, pastel accents, or clean white designs that contrast your outfit. Match your laces to your top or skirt for that uniform and athletic look!
Don’t Forget The Accessories
Pickleball accessories aren’t just fun for adding flare to your outfit but they’re the secret to transforming your outfit from sporty to serving. Whether you’re playing doubles with your girls or joining a co-ed league, the right extras will have you walking in feeling fitted from head to toe. Sun protection, sweat control, and cute aesthetic all in one. A sleek white visor gives you that classic country club feel, while a curved baseball cap keeps it casual and effortlessly cool. I recommend hats and visors from Nike and Wilson because they are simple and sleek and get the job done. As someone who used to play softball and needed a visor every game, they will help you a lot and perfect if you like to wear your hair up. Next is crew socks, don’t sleep on the power of a great sock. Retro crew socks with a sporty stripe or logo detail are the go-to for that ‘clean girl aesthetic’. I like crew socks from Lululemon and Organic Basics. These are great items to pull your outfit together and make you play your best.
