I started listening to podcasts after seeing clips of Frank Alvarez and Joe Santagato from The Basement Yard all over my TikTok. Each clip had me crying laughing and I yearned for more. I finally started listening to their actual podcast and happily listened/watched all 566 free episodes. But the urge for giggling didn’t stop there. I had to find more podcasts with more funny people. And I found them. And now I share them with you.
Smosh Mouth
My all time favorite podcast is the iconic Smosh Mouth with hosts Shayne Top and Amanda Lehan-Canto. The duo usually has an additional guest from other cast members of the Smosh YouTube channel to other internet personalities. Each episode has a different topic, activity, or game for the hosts and their guests. A recurring game is Try Not to Laugh which can be just as hard for the listeners to play along with. If you really want a good laugh, I suggest listening to episode #82 – Solving The Hardest Riddles We Could Find where Amanda fights for her life to solve riddles while guest Damien Haas fights to let Amanda answer before it becomes too painful. Another classic is #90 – Reading Our Dumb Sketches w/ Tommy Bowe where the three podcasters read and act out their old sketches. And finally, any episodes featuring Angela Giarratana are absolute masterpieces and the funniest things I have ever heard.
Smosh Reads Reddit Stories
If you love internet chaos, Smosh Reads Reddit Stories deserves a permanent spot in your weekly rotation. Hosted by Shayne Topp, each episode dives into the wildest stories from Reddit’s infamous forums, with rotating Smosh cast members and guests giving their honest (and often unhinged) opinions. Whether it’s relationship disasters, workplace drama, or people making the worst decisions imaginable, the conversations always spiral into hilarious tangents. The chemistry between Shayne and the guests is what makes this podcast shine, and hearing everyone’s wildly different takes is half the fun. Episodes featuring Spencer Agnew, Courtney Miller, Angela Giarratana, and Amanda Lehan-Canto are almost guaranteed to have you laughing out loud.
The Basement Yard
The podcast that started my obsession with funny podcasts is still one of the best. Hosted by Joe Santagato and Frank Alvarez, The Basement Yard feels like eavesdropping on two lifelong
best friends who somehow turn the most mundane topics into comedy gold. They bounce effortlessly between bizarre hypothetical questions, embarrassing personal stories, and complete nonsense, often making each other laugh so hard they can’t finish a sentence. Their contagious laughter is impossible not to join in on. With hundreds of episodes available, you’ll never run out of content, and you’ll probably find yourself quoting them in everyday conversations as I do.
The Bald and the Beautiful
Hosted by drag icons Trixie Mattel and Katya Zamolodchikova, The Bald and the Beautiful is beautifully chaotic. There isn’t always a clear structure and honestly, that’s part of the appeal. One minute they’re discussing pop culture, the next they’re debating completely absurd hypothetical situations or sharing bizarre personal stories. Their quick wit, incredible improv, and willingness to roast themselves make every episode feel unpredictable. Even if you’re not deeply involved in drag culture, their chemistry alone is enough to make this podcast one of the funniest listens available.
The Comment Section with Drew Afualo
If you’ve ever seen Drew Afualo confidently roasting terrible takes online, you already know what you’re getting into. The Comment Section mixes internet culture, celebrity gossip, current events, and personal stories with Drew’s signature humor and unapologetic personality. She frequently invites comedians, influencers, and fellow creators onto the show, making every episode feel like hanging out with funny friends who have absolutely no filter. Her ability to turn frustrating internet discourse into something genuinely entertaining is what keeps listeners coming back every week.
Shxts N Gigs
Hosted by James Duncan and Fuhad Dawodu, Shxts N Gigs has become one of the internet’s favorite comedy podcasts for good reason. The duo’s storytelling abilities are unmatched, and every episode somehow escalates into complete chaos. From dating horror stories and friendship debates to outrageous listener submissions, their conversations feel completely natural while still being endlessly entertaining. Their infectious laughter is almost impossible to resist, and even when they’re discussing everyday life, they somehow make it hilarious. If you’re looking for a podcast that feels like sitting in on your funniest friends’ conversation, this is it.
The Best Funny Podcasts Are the Ones That Feel Like Hanging Out
The best funny podcasts don’t just tell jokes, they make you feel like you’re sitting in the room with people you’d actually want to spend time with. Whether you’re listening during your commute, cleaning your apartment, or trying to survive a boring workday, these podcasts can instantly make the day a little brighter.
If you’re just getting started, I’d recommend beginning with The Basement Yard or Smosh Mouth. Both perfectly capture the kind of effortless chemistry that turns ordinary conversations into laugh-out-loud moments. Just don’t be surprised if you end up binge-listening hundreds of episodes the way I did.
