diy face masks

When it comes to at-home skincare, the DIYs I see are a lot more complicated than I anticipate. No DIY face mask should take longer to put together or gather ingredients for than you’ll be having it on your face. So, I’ve compiled a list of at-home face masks that don’t break the bank OR your patience. Heck, you probably already have all the ingredients already! So, let’s get pampering.

Soothing banana oat smoothie mask

I know this one may sound like it’s breakfast, BUT trust me. All you need is a blender to get this concoction going, along with one banana, a third of a cup of oats, one tablespoon of honey and a tiny bit of coconut oil. First throw in your oats so you can make sure they’re ground into a fine powder, then add the rest of your ingredients to the blender and blend until everything is combined. The mixture should be thick enough to spread on your face but not so thick that it’s chunking up.

Redness-reducing matcha mask

Green tea has numerous health benefits when consumed, but what about it is healing properties for skincare? Well, it reduces redness by calming your skin and helping it even itself out! This mask may also help with acne and to add a boost in moisture. All you need is one part matcha powder, one part coconut oil and half a part of water to get things going. On top of its goodness, this mask is also bright green, which is pretty fun in itself!

Honey and cinnamon acne mask

Oh, honey, this mask smells as good as it is for you! Honey has lots of skin benefits because of its antiseptic and antibacterial properties. On top of that, cinnamon is an antibacterial, anti-fungal and has antioxidant properties. This dynamic duo of ingredients is great for treating acne prone skin or even just for when your skin needs a deep cleansing and some TLC. Just mix up a teaspoon of cinnamon into a couple of tablespoons of honey and apply to your face to get that magic started.

Smooth skin coffee mask

If you love Lush like me, you might be familiar with their Cup ‘O Coffee mask. Turns out, there are TONS of ways to incorporate coffee into your skincare, whether that be with masks, scrubs, etc. This DIY coffee mask has skin clearing and smoothing abilities! All you need is coffee grounds/powder and some Aloe Vera gel. Since I have Aloe plants at home, I like to cut one of the leaves and use its contents for this mask, mixing about a tablespoon of coffee grounds in with it, then apply. Aloe also has great skincare benefits, like moisturizing, soothing and healing!

Calming chamomile mask

If you’ve got chamomile tea at home, brew yourself a cup for this mask! Not only can camomile calm your body when you’re winding down for bed, it also has the ability to calm your skin. Additionally, chamomile contains powerful antioxidants and in combination with plain yogurt– yes, yogurt– you get an acne-fighting, skin brightening mask! To help with consistency, you can add in a tablespoon of honey to your fourth cup of yogurt and two tablespoons of your chamomile tea. It may sound crazy, but this mask will do wonders for your skin!
