the zillennial zine

Happy 100th article! Since we’ve been cranking out articles since August, we’ve never stopped to introduce ourselves to you all. Who is behind the Z you may wonder… well, our moms know, that’s for sure. But, for anyone who has been reading along and being awesome to us these past few months – we wanted to introduce ourselves. Our names are Ash & Sabrina, and to introduce ourselves, we’ve decided to ask each other 5 random questions that should give you some insight into who we are.

Ash

Q: What would you say your favorite lizard is?

A: I used to have a bearded dragon as a pet. He was a feisty little guy named rob and I would feel bad not saying bearded dragons because of him… BUT chameleons are pretty darn cool, not going to lie. I think their camouflage capabilities and mellow temperament makes them some of the raddest lizards out there.

Q: What is your favorite candle scent right now?

A: I’m very much in the cozy fall mood at the moment and a candle scent that I have been loving lately is from Target. It’s the Opalhouse brand’s “Autumn Harvest” candle. It smells AHmazing but also burns for a surprisingly long time, which is always welcome. I think it’s a great candle for feeling cozy and bundling up with some cider and enjoying the nip in the air.

Q: Which would you prefer: Only listening to one song for the rest of your life, or never being able to listen to music again?

A: I don’t think I could imagine a life without music, so I’d have to say I would prefer to listen to one song over and over for the rest of my life. I would have to think long and hard about what song I’d want to listen to forever, but knowing myself, It’d probably be something by Jack Johnson. Why not be mellowed out by his tunes for the rest of my life?

Q: What is something about you that not many people know?

A: Something about me that not many people know is that I am the most indecisive person. I am the poster child for a Libra’s indecisiveness. In fact, when Sabrina asked me this question, after much humming and hahing, I asked her what something not many people know about me is. While I can’t come up with many things on my own, I’d like to think of myself as an expert go-with-the-flow-er.

Q: If you could interview anyone in the world for our zine, who would you pick and why?

A: If I could pick anyone in the whole wide world to interview for the Zillennial, I would probably pick Gwen Stefani. Not only is she is the queen of my music taste, she is a fashion icon who I draw LOADS of inspiration from style-wise and attitude-wise. I think getting the chance to chat with her about her career and style evolution would be really fun and fulfill some childhood dream I never knew I had.

Q: If you had to take three Gilmore Girls characters to a deserted island, who would you choose and why?

A: This one is really difficult because I’m not sure if I should come at this in terms of entertainment or survival. Since it’s a deserted island and not a dinner table, I suppose I should take my survival into account. Because of that alone, I feel like I have to choose Paris because if anyone has the sheer willpower to get me off of this island, it would be Ms. Geller. Next, I’d choose Sookie because that women can make a meal out of anything, and I know it will still taste amazing. Third, I’d have to go with Luke because he’s the only one who would know how to build us shelter. I love the Gilmore Girls but you have to know that neither of them would be ANY help in the survival category. In the entertainment category, I know Rory would have a ton of books for me to borrow and Lorelai would be a one-woman show, always keeping everyone sane. But… they’re not the most resourceful duo.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 hours?

A: ALL TOO WELL! The All Too Well short film comes out in exactly five hours and I’m way too excited to watch it. I can’t wait to see how Dylan O’Brien and Sadie Sink mesh. I also will be on high alert looking for easter eggs. If you don’t know this about me already, I am an avid swiftie who would do anything for that woman. I will definitely be watching the short film in five hours, easy.

Q: If you had to live in a board game, which one would you choose and why?

A: Definitely not candy land. I know that isn’t the question but all of the candy land characters are so creepy. Like that green guy? The licorice guy? Grandma Nutt? No thanks. I’d probably pick Clue. I love a mystery, and who wouldn’t want to run around a mansion looking at murder weapons? Well, I guess that’s kinda weird but I’m sticking to it.

Q: What is your weirdest childhood memory?

A: When I was little, my best friend and I would collect leaves, pool water, flowers and other random items to make our own soaps and perfumes. I remember this one day very specifically that we made a perfume called Huckleberry Finn and we were really proud of it. We kept trying to get our moms to use it and obviously they werent interested in spraying pool water and dirt on themselves. Rude, right?

Q: What is your favorite thing about working for the Zillennial?

A: These past months have been amazing. Not gonna lie, I’d love to start making bank off this website ASAP but that’s never been what it was about. Having the freedom to write whatever we want is incredible. I scroll through TikTok in my free time and I see a musician and I message them to interview them, or I see a crazy new trend going around and I slap it on the calendar to write an article about it. I truly don’t think there’s another online magazine like ours. It’s so fresh because we’re not trying to be anything we aren’t. We’re two Zillennial girls who have crazy hectic lives, who go bar hopping on the weekends and wake up hungover trying to get our articles done on time. The Z is messy because that’s what our whole generation is. We’re just representing and hopefully putting out great content that is relatable, fun to read and enjoyable. I’m just so proud of us!

Now we want to learn about you! Answer any of these questions below so we can learn about your weird childhood memories, your crazy fun facts or which lizards are your favorite.
