Stay Sipping On The Right Track With These 5 Healthier Starbucks Options

Do you love heading to Starbucks to grab a drink? Or sitting in Starbucks to work on your assignments? I know I do. Even if I’m not even craving anything in specific, I love getting a drink while I shop for my groceries or while I’m sitting at my desk working. But, if we’re being honest, the calories add up quickly and while they are delicious, I’m not keen on the idea of drinking up my calories for the day. So, if you’re looking to get a healthy Starbucks Coffee drink, you’ve come to the right place.

Sugar-Free Syrup

One simple way to cut down on your sugar intake is to order a drink with sugar-free vanilla or sugar-free cinnamon dolce syrup. If you’re ordering a drink that already has vanilla or cinnamon dolce syrup in it, ask the barista to swap it out for the sugar-free versions instead. If you want something simple, get a plain iced coffee with sugar-free vanilla or cinnamon dolce syrup in it. While this is the only sugar-free syrup they offer at Starbucks, there are plenty of other drinks that are sugar-free or low-calorie without this swap.

Drink Tea

One of my favorite things to order at Starbucks is iced (or hot) tea. On a chilly winter day, ordering hot black or green tea is one of my favorite things to do. Then, you can walk around with it and feel toasty and warm. In the summer, iced black or green tea is equally delicious and refreshing. The iced black tea is shaken with ice, and the green tea has notes of spearmint, lemon verbena and lemongrass. Iced passion tango tea is also a sugar-free option, with notes of hibiscus, lemongrass and apple. You also can’t go wrong with an Earl Grey, an English Breakfast or a Peach Tranquility tea which are all sugar-free options. Especially if you’ll be sipping on this drink all day, getting a venti or trenta tea will be perfect for you.

Learn To Like It Dark

I’ll let you in on a little secret. Coffee and teas are usually sugar-free by themselves. What makes them a calorie killer is all of the added stuff we get in them. This might be classic syrup, caramel drizzle, whipped cream, cold foam or fun seasonal toppings. While these are so delicious and fun for special occasions, I wouldn’t want to drink them every single day. Most of the time, if you want to drink coffee or tea every single day, you should condition yourself to like it dark. Black coffee, cold brew, espressos and caffè americanos are the perfect option.

Skinny Lattes

Still want something sweet and delicious? I don’t blame you! I honestly can’t handle drinking black coffee. If you’re still wanting something with some flavor, skinny lattes are the best choice for that. A skinny cinnamon dolce latte (iced or hot) uses nonfat milk, milk foam, and sugar-free cinnamon dolce syrup. There is also a caramel and vanilla version of the skinny latte.

Order Less

I am never one to say that you should cut out the things that bring you joy. If you love ordering a vanilla bean frappuccino, do it! Please don’t read this article and think that you don’t deserve to have sugary, awesome drinks with sprinkles and whipped cream on top. But, if you’re wanting to order your fave while cutting down a little, consider ordering a smaller size! Instead of a venti, get a tall! Or, ask for fewer pumps of syrup in one of your favorites. Most drinks come with 4-6 pumps of syrup based on the size, so cutting those in half can help and usually doesn’t make that much of a difference in taste.
