Q: Tell us your story! Who is behind Hold The Phone?

A: Suzy and Mark are partners from Toronto, Ontario and are newly married. They both work in the wedding industry as a wedding photographer/videographer, and a wedding DJ.

Q: What makes Hold The Phone so unique?

A: Hold the Phone is founded by wedding professionals who are passionate about creating memories to last a lifetime. It brings a piece of nostalgia back by using old rotary phones and voice to hold onto forever. We find ourselves always looking back at photos or home videos and something that always sticks out are the voices. It’s like you can almost hear your other family members in the room just by seeing photos of them. Holding on to these voice messages for years to come will be able to bring you back the excitement and emotions of those people who hold a special place in your heart. It’s like that one voicemail you save on your phone forever because you don’t want to lose their voice.

Q: What is it like to own a small business? Is it challenging at times? Is it rewarding?

A: With any new adventure comes its challenges. This business is incredibly rewarding, especially working with your partner. In this business we’re able to create memories for a lifetime and provide something that is timeless. This was a big learning curve to provide the high level customer service every couple and client deserve. We wouldn’t give it up for the world.

Q: How have you seen your business impact the wedding industry?

A: In our first year of business we can say we are quite impressed with how many people want to try something new and be different. It might be too early to tell but we are finding more and more couples come to us because they’re finally able to have the wedding day they want and hold on to memories forever.

Q: What is your favorite part about Hold The Phone? What has been the most positive/fun experience?

SQ: My favorite part of Hold the Phone is the moment we get an email back from a client saying they’re in tears (happy tears of course) while listening to their messages. It’s the part where we become the hero’s where really we’re just trying to provide an exceptional experience with a fun coloured phone. I love the part where we hear back from the client and they say, “omg it was a hit!”

MG: What I love about it is the way people interact with it, they love the vibe and experience the phone itself brings to events. The experience being at weddings with the phone and seeing how happy guests get when they can sing at the top of their lungs a special song bring so many laughs.

Q: Do you have any advice for someone who is starting their own small business?

A: Our advice would be to build your foundation slowly. Put in the work on all your systems and processes first before you get an overwhelming response and don’t have a workflow to keep you above water.

Q: Just for fun, which phone color is currently your favorite? Do you have a favorite display someone has set up at a wedding?

SQ: Mine would be white! I love how white can go with anything, and no matter what event it will always fit in. We have seen a few nice setups, we love it when we’re tagged and can see how #htp played a role in their day.

MG: I like the green. I think it can pop at any wedding, it’s simply elegant.

Q: What do you want our readers to know about Hold The Phone?

A: In our first year of business we are thrilled to have been booked at several events, from weddings, engagements, destination weddings and corporate parties. We really just want to show the world how passionate we are about creating these memories that can last a lifetime. The messages may not have an impact on your first listen, but in 10-15 years, the messages from your grandparents could me a whole lot more to you.

Q: Anything else you would like to add?

A: We’re excited working in the background on Prototype #2 to include more features. New colours are coming in 2022, and you might see them for yourself at local wedding events! Thanks for trusting our dream so far. – Suzy & Mark 🇨🇦
