Dopamine decor has been a trend that has taken the design world by storm recently and it shows no signs of slowing down now. The concept is similar to that of dopamine dressing, in which you use color, patterns, shapes, etc. to liven up your space and make it a reflection of yourself and what makes you happy. There have been studies conducted that show how different colors affect an individual’s moods. For example, an article on the website Verywell Mind explains that “Your feelings about color are often deeply personal and rooted in your own experience or culture.” Therefore, the colors we surround ourselves with in our everyday lives, whether it be through our clothing or in our homes, directly affect our mood based on what we associate those colors with. So, if you want your home to be a direct reflection of your personality and ever-changing mood, fill your space with some of your favorite colors, quotes, objects and whatever else it is that brings you happiness.

Dopamine Decor Ideas

There are a lot of options out there when it comes to finding dopamine decor that will fit your personality. Whether bold, patterned wallpaper or funky coffee tables are your things, the possibilities are endless. Here are three dopamine decor ideas that are sure to make you want to hop on this trend as soon as possible.

Living Room Decor

Starting with living room decor because it’s probably one of the most easily furnishable rooms. Let’s start with getting a statement piece like this couch, which doubles as a sleeper for guests. Not only is it adorable, but it will also add so much character to any room it’s in. If colored couches aren’t your thing, I recommend finding a fun coffee table, side table or bookcase. However, you can also make your space unique by finding a peel-and-stick wallpaper in a color or pattern to match the vibe you are trying to achieve. For wall decor, stick with different photos, posters or quotes that bring out your happiness.

Bedroom Decor

Next is the bedroom, which should always be a reflection of who you are. It should also be a place where you’re able to wind down after a long day. Stick to colors and patterns that make you feel relaxed and add comfort to the space. Rugs are a good way to add a subtle statement piece to a room, such as this 70s-esque shag rug from Amazon. Getting a fun and unique light fixture is also a cute way to add character to your bedroom, just look at these table lamps from Etsy. Let’s not forget about adding some color to your comforter. Since your bed is probably where you spend most of your time in your room, you should make it a representation of yourself. This floral comforter from Amazon is cute, but subtle and comes in 12 different colors.

Kitchen Decor

Last, but certainly not least, is the kitchen. I have always loved the idea of bold kitchen decor and it goes perfectly with the dopamine decor trend. If colorful statement cabinets are your thing, I recommend just going for it and painting your cabinets if you’re in a space that allows you to. However, if you aren’t able to I recommend finding other ways to spice up your kitchen and bring some of the dopamine decor trend into it. For example, these stick-on wall tiles would make the perfect backsplash. You could even opt to peel-and-stick wallpaper for your walls or cabinets to the decor of your kitchen. However, you shouldn’t limit your dopamine solely to the walls, also add some to your kitchen utensils, whether it be through salt and pepper shakers, utensil holders, tea kettles or napkin holders.

Overall, dopamine decor, similar to dopamine dressing, is all about putting your happiness into the design of your home or apartment. There are so many easy ways to add your personal touches to your space, whether it be through little trinkets or colorful wallpaper and statement cabinets. We hope you found some inspiration from this article and can add some dopamine decor to your life!
