Composed of indie artists Lucy Dacus, Julien Baker and Phoebe Bridgers, Boygenius has come a long way since its formation and EP release in 2018. The group was recently thrust into the spotlight after the release of their debut album, The Record, which came out in March of this year. Since then, Boygenius has been the subject of countless interviews, photoshoots, articles and music festivals. The group began their world tour in April, stopping along the way to perform for and with artists that include Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish. This year gave fans the opportunity to fall further in love with the indie-rock group and everything they stand for, as well as show their appreciation for the artists during their shows. Now that their amount of songs has practically doubled, we figured it was time to answer the question: “which Boygenius song am I?” Keep scrolling to hear our picks.

Aries – Bite The Hand

What better pairing for the first sign on the zodiac than the first Boygenius song? This fiery first track of Boygenius’s EP perfectly encapsulates the energy of Aries. The lines “I’ll bite the hand that feeds me,” and “I can’t love you how you want me to” sum up the tendency of Aries to be passionate, yet stubborn around those they love.

Taurus – Cool About It

“But we don’t have to talk about it. I can walk you home and practice method acting” is a line that screams Taurus to us! This mellow, folk inspired song matches the down-to-earth and sensual personality of Taurus, who often finds themselves staying cool to avoid conflict that they deem tiring or unnecessary.

Gemini – Leonard Cohen

Geminis are one of the signs who seem the most put together on their exterior, despite any internal conflicts they may be facing. “Leonard Cohen” displays a similar theme, starting with its opening lyrics. The speaker of the song is afraid to interrupt someone they love, even though they are making things harder for themselves by staying silent. This song understands the feelings of uncertainty or undeservingness that Geminis can sometimes grapple with.

Cancer – Me And My Dog

“I wish I was on a spaceship, just me and my dog and an impossible view” has to be a line that Cancers find themselves resonating with! Although they’re known for being affectionate and sometimes even clingy, people tend to forget about the other side of a Cancer, in which they are home-loving and imaginative. “I cried at your show with the teenagers” also sums up the tender, emotional side of a Cancer.

Leo – Anti-Curse

It worked out too well that this subtly beach-themed song matches up with the zodiac sign born in the middle of summer! Leos are known as the “star” of the zodiac, tending to have a sunny disposition and big-hearted personality. However, a Leo in a bad mood can often be impatient or hot-headed, a trait that the lines “I never listened, had to see for myself” and “friendly fire, point-blank” encapsulate.

Virgo – Not Strong Enough

Virgos are often an underrated zodiac sign, so we thought we would give them the biggest hit! This isn’t the only reason for this matchup, of course. Practical and hardworking, Virgos tend to absorb others’ stress in addition to their own. Despite all this, they can still believe they are unworthy or “Not Strong Enough.” The line “always an angel, never a god” represents the struggle that Virgos can experience if they feel under appreciated for all that they do.

Libra – We’re In Love

“You could absolutely break my heart” is a line every Libra has thought at least once in their life. Libras are the sign who arguably value social connection more than any other, often finding themselves being overly agreeable just to maintain a good social relationship. “We’re In Love” displays a different side of this need for connection. Libras are known for how their need for relationships can get them into trouble, but “We’re In Love” offers a refreshing take on the topic. The song repeatedly expresses devotion for others in a simple and bold manner.

Scorpio – True Blue

Scorpios care deeply about those they care about, but find themselves putting on a moody, temperamental and secretive exterior to cover up their vulnerability. The line “And it feels good to be known so well. I can’t hide from you like I hide from myself” captures the feeling of a Scorpio when they feel truly seen.

Sagittarius – Satanist

This song is a bold one, but then again, so is Sagittarius! While they can be optimistic and animated, Sagittarius is just as capable of being idealistic and opinionated. The lyrics of this song reflect this, dabbling in topics such as anarchy and nihilism. The line “if nothin’ matters, man, that’s a relief” displays the reckless tendency of a Sagittarius.

Capricorn – $20

If you need an extra reason to see why we decided to make this match, watch the music video for this song. Somehow it just captures the energy of Capricorn. Hardworking, practical, disciplined and driven are just some of the adjectives used to describe a Capricorn. The music video for this song especially captures this vibe, along with the line “Mama told me it don’t run on wishes but that I should have fun.”

Aquarius – Salt In The Wound

“Trick after trick, I make the magic and you unrelentingly ask for the secret” and “you butter me up and you sit down to eat” are lines from this track that might hit home with some of you who were born under the eleventh sign. Aquarius are some of the most creative and sociable members of the zodiac, often bringing a unique perspective to those around them. They can often feel taken for granted because of this, making this song a great fit.

Pisces – Emily I’m Sorry

Last, but certainly not least on our list is Pisces! While they can be loving and imaginative; having a tendency to see the world through rose-colored glasses, this can lead Pisces to become oblivious and a little self-absorbed. Pisces also are very mutable people, often changing aspects of themselves to better match their environment. The line “I can feel myself becoming someone only you could want” gives the impression the speaker in this song has the same habit.
