Have you ever wondered what all those long, hard to pronounce words in your skincare’s ingredient list mean? And what do they do? Most of us are not doctors and dermatologists —- or even a bio or chem major. Reading these complicated sounding ingredients mean absolutely nothing to anyone who is not in the science world. Most times, we just have to trust that brands and companies are telling the truth with their marketing of certain products and ingredients. But wouldn’t it be so nice if you could get an unbiased and straight to the point answer of what an ingredient does and why it’s in our skincare? Well, look no further.

Remedyskin is a brand new website developed by Dr. Shah (@doctorly). He is a board certified dermatologist that makes social media content teaching his audience about all things skincare. Dr. Shah also often makes these type of content with Dr. Maxfield, a board certified dermatologist as well as a Micrographic Surgery & Dermatologic Oncology (Mohs) fellow. The Doctorly YouTube channel often features Dr. Shah and Dr. Maxfield breaking down complicated skincare concepts into easy to understand ideas that the general audience can understand. They also give very unbiased reviews of products while still being super informative.

Thus, the Remedyskin Skinpedia is the perfect project for Dr.Shah to pursue. It is essentially a search engine for all things skincare and dermatology. Skinpedia has an alphabetical index of skincare ingredients, concerns and products —- anything skincare related that you can think of, it will be there. Dr. Shah’s goal for this skinpedia is to make information and knowledge about all things skin-related straightfoward, unbiased and easier to understand for everyone. No more scrolling through paragraphs and paragraphs online just to find that one sentence where it actually tells you what an ingredient is. You also no longer have to scour for a YouTube or TikTok video to try and find the exact part of the video where you’ll find the information you want. The point of this website was to give the audience and all skincare lovers the information they’re looking for without any extra fluff or ads. Just straight to the point.

Dr. Shah has also stated that he had invited many of his colleagues and other derms he trusts to help him build this skinpedia. The Remedyskin Skinpedia is thus a skincare database created by trusted experts who will give you the information and advice you seek with as little bias as possible.

This project is still in the works at the moment but it already comes together very nicely. For example, if you’re having acne concerns, you would go to the A section, click on acne, and the skinpedia will bring you to all the articles they have about acne. This will include many commonly asked questions about acne such as “what causes acne?”, “how do you treat adult acne?” and “does toothpaste get rid of acne?” Under the acne tab, you’ll also find ingredient review articles that talk about different ingredients that can help with acne such as nicacinamide, snail mucin and azelaic acid.

When you scroll further down past the tagged acne section, you’ll find the other categories section featuring sections for advice, skin conditions and moe ingredients. I could talk about this site for hours but you get the idea. Any question or advice you may have about anything skin-related, Remedyskin’s Skinpedia will have have the answers you’re looking for. At this time, though still in the works, the site already seems to have so much information about so many topics. All the information will also be frequently updated based on any new research that comes out so you’ll always have the newest, up to date information on how to treat your skin.
