“The man who passes the sentence should swing the sword. If you would take a man’s life, you owe it to him to look into his eyes and hear his final words. And if you cannot bear to do that, then perhaps the man does not deserve to die.”
― George R.R. Martin, A Game of Thrones
Fire and Blood, Sword and Steel, Dreams of Spring but the howling of Winter. Game of Thrones stands at the top, for Medieval Fantasy.
A testament to world-building, a history that encompasses over 300 to 1,000 years of fictional history, and a legacy that is still being talked about decades after. ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ and ‘A Game of Thrones.’ In the dawn of 2024, there are not that many shows coming out, but there has been a revitalization of old remakes. The new Avatar has sadly, not done as well as it was predicted to, however, there is shockingly a massive and quite strong fanbase for Game of Thrones. Shockingly, charts on HBO are stating that the show along with its recent spinoff. “House of The Dragon.” Are getting a rise in spikes, and there are ’new fans’ Gen Z and Millenials who have not seen it, but due to the changing times and dullness of modern-day television, there is something about the rawness of the Early Seasons of Game of Thrones that has caused a lot of people to come back, this was HBO in there early years. There was violence, political intrigue, and wonderful and interesting characters. Let us begin.
What Game of Thrones does differently than other series, and why people are coming back is its interesting creative direction.
The political intrigue of Game of Thrones makes other shows like House of Cards look like child play in their regards. Game of Thrones has a multitude of characters from multiple differing personalities, ideologies, and voices that all wonderfully mesh well together within their plot. There is humor and the cast has wonderful chemistry with each other. Also, the characters are all very diverse.

The diversity in Game of Thrones not just within its cast, but within its worldbuilding is very expansive. While other shows in our time preach their diversity, unlike them, Game of Thrones does not preach but instead showcases its diverse crowd. There are a multitude of actors that have lost limbs and Game of Thrones gave them a role, Peter Dinklage is a person of short stature, and he plays one of the most entertaining and funny roles I’ve ever seen in fiction.
The heroines of Game of Thrones are plentiful, and many people do not discuss it but Game of Thrones has many strong female characters. Both within book adaption, and book. The characters of the Game of Thrones, even though they are females during the medieval era. They wield power and make pivotal decisions, and there are many times within the story that you can read. Akin to Outlander, many female characters within Game of Thrones play pivotal roles throughout the story. And they are more featured than some of these modern-day shows.
If this article to this point has gotten you to watch and check out Game of Thrones, I would recommend it! However, there is a bit of an issue. There has been a noticeable decline in both production and skill past Season 4. Game of Thrones had an outcry due to the results of the end of the series, but there were glaring issues within the later seasons. So, to combat this Millennials and Gen-Z have both just not finished…the series.
They stop between seasons 3 to 5 and they see how much they like it, but when the problems become glaring people either leave or continue from the book series. However, I would advise everyone to decide what they want to do. However, it will stay as a forever testament to how good of a series this truly was.
