Found Heaven: The album

The album was released on April 5th this year and has thirteen tracks. Gray wrote the album while falling in love for the first them and then experiencing the relationship come to an end. Found Heaven follows 80’s motifs like synths, electric guitars, a neon color pallet, and 80’s style clothes. It gives Conan Gray’s young audience nostalgia for a decade they never experienced.

I was shocked but intrigued when I heard the first single. It’s a departure from the usual production. Dan Nigro has produced the past two albums, Superache and Kid Krow. Gray brought in big names like Max Martin to produce Found Heaven. You may know Max Marin from his work on the albums Red and 1989.

Gray has shown off his high notes and light vocal style in the past few albums. This time, he sings in a lower register making him sound mature. The lyrics are more firm and grown up.

The lead singles, never-ending song, and Lonely Dancers contain Gray’s standard sad lyrics. This time the producers added a beat the listener can’t help but dance to. The album has some built-in summer hits I’ve got a feeling that the song Boys & Girls will become a fan favorite soon. If it weren’t for Univeral Music Group removing a large number of artist’s music from TikTok the song might have had more attention.

Gray addresses the person in these heartbreak songs and lets them know what they did wrong. In the song Winner, Gray mocks the song’s subject, daring them to take responsibility for the wrong they committed.

Some songs on Found Heaven have slower moments in the beginning, then the beloved 80’s production comes in and picks up the song. Compared to the rest of the album, the song The Final Fight is a ballad. However, it doesn’t feel out of place because it is sonically cohesive.

Found Heaven: The Tour

According to Conan Gray’s website, the tour starts on July 11th in Melbourne and will end on November 10th in London. Gray will perform in venues located in the United States, Parts of Europe, and Canada. Based on fan reception to the tour more dates and locations could be announced.

What To Wear

The most obvious option is to wear merch. This might be difficult to achieve since Conan Gray’s merch is currently sold out on his website but there are also fanmade options on Etsy. The next best option is to reference the Found Heaven album aesthetic. Leather is a consistent fabric in the album. On the cover, Conan Gray wears a black and yellow leather jacket with black stars on the sleeves. He also rocks fingerless leather gloves. The jacket also makes an appearance in the Never Ending Song music video.

Another amazing jacket Gray wears is a red and white bedazzled leather jacket with two stars on the front in the Lonely Dancers music video.

If you don’t have any bedazzled leather jackets lying around, I suggest mimicking the general 80s style. Search your closet or thrift some mom jeans, or any pants with a high-waisted fit to them. On the hotter summer days of the tour ditch the leather jackets and go for short-sleeved tops; specifically, Ringer T-shirts, which are shirts with a colorful ring around the sleeve. Muscle Tees convey the 80’s aesthetic very easily.  This is not to say that the 80’s is only leather jackets and muscle tees are the only way to portray the 80’s . As for makeup and accessories, stars are the way to go. Add stars around the eyes on top of blue, red, and yellow eyeshadow

The most important thing when attending a concert is staying safe and being comfortable. So whether you go full-on 80’s or wear merch have fun and sing to your favorite songs.
