Nearly every day someone new goes viral on TikTok for all sorts of reasons. Some people go viral because of a funny situation, while others go viral for their looks. Tarayummy is experiencing the latter.
Who Is Tarayummy?
Tarayummy is a social media influencer known for both her fashion and sense of humor. She is popular on YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram. Although Tara’s main focus is her YouTube channel she has amassed eight million TikTok followers and 290 million likes. Her YouTube account has over a million subscribers and her videos go back five years.
She was previously in a relationship with the popular influencer and musician, Jake Webber. The two announced their breakup in August 2023 in the form of a YouTube video. But they are still in each other’s lives as seen in the dozens of TikToks and YouTube videos posted by both Tara and Jake.
The Appeal
Tara Yummy exudes the cool girl confidence that everyone secretly wants. She has gained traction on TikTok for her style, appearance, and personality. Her fashion sense leans toward the emo and grunge aesthetic, which draws in people who like the style, but also people who don’t.
Tara’s TikToks often go viral because of the popular TikTok sounds she uses. Her equally popular friends are also featured on TikTok and YouTube channel. Recently, one-third of the Sturnilio triplets, Christopher Sturniolo appeared in her video. It was bound to go viral. Tara’s account reminds me a lot of the popular 2020 TikTok videos. It’s mostly singing and dancing to popular songs and being attractive.
The Tarayummy Aesthetic
As previously stated, Tara’s style falls under the emo and grunge category. She is almost always wearing thick black eyeliner. Nudeish pink lipstick and gloss colors are also part of her signature look. Don’t forget about the long black hair and black painted nails to match. Some of her videos have an overly saturated filter which resembles the Twilight filter. The video of Tara lipsyncing to “Make You Mine” by Madison Beer has a whopping 52 million views.
The Outfits
This past weekend Tara posted her Coachella outfits, leaning into the party girl stereotypes. In a recent video, she shows her messy hotel room; the glitter, the alcohol, and herself hungover. Her first outfit is a two-piece lacy tank top set and shorts. There’s an assortment of pink satin bows on the side of the set. Bows are also in Tara’s hair. If you haven’t heard, bows have been really popular in the past year. The second outfit consists of a red long-sleeve sheer top and red shorts. The real star of the outfit is Tara’s black furry boots.
The last outfit is an all-denim number. An unbuttoned denim vest and mini denim skirt. She added a leopard print scarf around her waist using it as a belt. Tara also wore leopard print cowboy boots. All of her Coachella outfit videos have reached over a million views.
How Long will her Popularity Last?
Historically the internet tends to get “bored” of people after a year. But there are exceptions to this. Tara has built her YouTube over the past several years and seems to have a stable fanbase. She has capitalized on her popularity, as of yesterday Tara was featured on E News’ TikTok.
But she does risk over-exposure since TikTok users hate the repetition of an influencer. People have already started with the “Why is she even popular?” questions in Tara’s comment sections. Only time will tell if Tara’s popularity will last.
