The Ninja Creami is becoming increasingly popular due to its ability to make ice cream out of virtually any ingredient. This includes ingredients that are far from a traditional ice cream base. Moreover, it provides us with the opportunity to experiment with different ingredients and flavors while maintaining a healthy profile. With its 7 programs (11 in the Deluxe version), let me guide you towards a healthy, homemade track with these low calorie Ninja Creami recipes.
How to Use the Ninja Creami
To use the Ninja Creami, start by pouring your liquid base (such as milk, yogurt, or puréed frozen fruit) into the machine, then freeze it for 24 hours. After freezing, simply press one of the buttons to start. Ninja’s website offers plenty of recipes, in addition to their companion cookbook. These recipes range from single-ingredient options (like froYo) to those with a maximum of six ingredients.
ICE CREAM!!!
Here are some common denominators in the several low-calorie recipes I found: they’re around 300 calories (or less), contain 40 or more grams of protein, and include ingredients like:
- Fairlife milk
- Unsweetened almond milk
- Sugar-free pudding mix
- Vanilla extract
- Protein powder
- Cream cheese (optional)
- Pure maple syrup
While the flavors of the ingredients will vary depending on your recipe, these are the main components.
Basic Chocolate Protein Ice Cream: With 44 grams of protein for the entire pint, this recipe is made with simple ingredients. To get that chocolate taste, use chocolate milk and pudding instead of the regular ones. For chocolate lovers, adding some chocolate chips or cocoa powder can enhance the flavor.
Basic Vanilla Ice Cream: This one is perfect for those new to low-calorie Ninja Creami recipes. Also containing 40 grams of protein, it’s a simple recipe for simple tastes. If you’re craving something more, add some cookies to create cookies and cream ice cream.
Strawberry Ice Cream: A healthy strawberry cheesecake Ninja Creami recipe might be just what you need for this summer. The great thing about this recipe is that it only has around 300 calories and 44 grams of protein. You can use either frozen or fresh strawberries, depending on your preference.
Sorbets
Sorbets are perfect for fresh summer treats. From fresh to canned fruit, these recipes are deliciously easy, requiring only a couple of ingredients each. Additionally, they are considered a lighter, healthier option than heavier, creamier ice cream recipes. Most of them contain the same ingredients, except for the main fruit (which determines the main flavor):
- Frozen fruit chunks for the perfect texture
- White sugar or your preferred sweetener, adjusted to taste
- Water to help it blend smoothly
- A squeeze of lime or lemon juice for a refreshing kick
Even better, these recipes have even fewer calories than the previous ice cream recipes, with each containing between 150-200 calories.
Mango Sorbet: While many articles and videos suggest using canned mango, I personally prefer fresh fruit. Just ensure they’re ripe before freezing to achieve natural sweetness.
Berry Lemonade Sorbet: For this one, you might want to use frozen berries if you’re looking to save money.
Violet Lemonade Sorbet: For a more interesting recipe, consider this: If you’ve ever been to Epcot during the International Flower and Garden Festival, you might know about their classic violet lemonade drink, perfect for sipping in the Florida sun. I discovered that the key ingredient is a gourmet syrup called ‘Le Sirop de Monin Violet Syrup’. Just add this syrup, water, and lemon juice into a cup, and you’re good to go!
The technology of the Ninja Creami never ceases to amaze me. It allows you to see exactly what goes into your treats, unlike store-bought desserts. While I’m not criticizing store-bought treats, I encourage you to include these low-calorie Ninja Creami recipes into your diet and lifestyle. Let them not only be your summer snack but something that lasts a lifetime. Whether you prefer creamy, protein-packed ice creams or fruity and refreshing sorbets, the Ninja Creami adapts to different needs. Embrace the creativity of homemade sweet courses!
