Many times when we think of religious and worship music, we think of the slow and calm songs that are played at church.Although that is a major section of Christian music, the industry has developed so much and now there is a wide range of Christian music out there that is fun, upbeat, and good. If you are like me and in the season of removing secular music from your playlist, adding wholesome and positive songs, and still want to jam, this article is for you! Keep reading to discover what artists, albums, and songs are popping in the Christian music game right now so you can revamp your playlists and not let go of good and upbeat music.
Forrest Frank
One of the biggest changes and developments in the industry has been younger Christian artists who have been releasing music that is very relatable and trendy. Millennials and Gen-Z are usually up to date with pop culture and music so they know what people like. An artist in their twenties is going to be able to pertain to us younger Christians more so than someone a little old school. This is why I believe young Christian artist Forrest Frank has blown up over the past couple of years and now has over 3 million followers on Instagram. Most recently Frank was named New Artist of The Year and The 2024 Dove Awards after he hit number 1 on iTunes worldwide chart, and he had five of iTunes top 100 Christian songs of 2024. His energy, look, and stage presence along with his music have gotten him a large fanbase and loved songs. His song “God Is Good” with Caleb Gordon went viral and was on TikTok for a long time because of its good vibes and catchy tone. Frank is going on tour for 2025 and his tour dates and locations are worth checking out for an experience you will not forget. He also has some fashionable Christian merch on his website from hoodies, T-shirts, hats, and more which are a great look if you are into streetwear but still want to represent God in your clothing.
Maverick City Collab With GloRilla
Christian music has become very popular, mainstream artists and rappers are collaborating on songs with them to pertain to a wider audience. I think this is great because it introduces people who would not normally listen to Christian songs and shows them they can be really good. One group that is known for being very trendy and fun to listen to is Maverick City Music which is several people from Atlanta that came together to create music that worships God. Most recently, they were featured in GloRilla’s song on her new album “GLORIOUS” with the song “Rain Down on Me”. She is a Memphis rapper who had her breakthrough in 2022 and this album was different from her normal content. I thought it was great she collaborated with Maverick City who is already a staple group in the Christian music industry. GloRilla also just announced she is going on tour this year and it would be awesome if Maverick City made an appearance to perform their song. This was a huge deal in the music industry and I think it is showing more people how much good Christian music there is out there.
Christian Rap Meets West Coast Beats
If you are like me and love your rap and hip-hop music like Kendrick, Lil-Wayne, J.cole, and Pusha T, but don’t want to sacrifice those beats and vibe I have got you covered. I did not know legit Christian rap was a thing let alone a majorcategory of good music until a couple of months ago! I have discovered many of the good songs through TikTok recommendations and it led me down a rabbit hole of really catchy songs. If you like West Coast beats and rap I recommend listening to MikeySoChristian and GodLovinGid, they have that same vibe but Christian lyrics and good vibes for the spirit. Caleb Gordon is one of my favorite artists, he has a good flow and his sound reminds me of Gunna or Lil Baby. His song ‘Rocky Road, Pt. 2’ is a must-add to your playlist and it sounds like a 21 Savage feature. I thinkChristian rap is one of the coolest creations in music because I love a good beat but I do not want to listen to the vulgar and sometimes trashy lyrics in regular rap songs so it is the best of both worlds.
Curating Your Playlist
Depending on how much you listen to music will probably correlate with how much time you put into making your playlist. I love music so I have a playlist for every month plus chill R&B, Latin hits, throwbacks, and more! That has taken me a long time to create and I understand not everyone has that time but still wants to enjoy some good playlists. Well, not to worry because a life hack for this is searching up “Christian Music Playlists” on TikTok, and whether you have Apple Music or Spotify someone has already created one and it is a great place to start. I like checking out these playlists and taking songs I like the most and adding them to my own. Over time you can create your perfect soundtrack and discover new songs and artists for the era of good Christian music to listen to on the daily.
Being Christian and wanting to worship and honor God daily in everything you do does not have to be boring it is exciting and it makes you feel great. It starts but making the small changes in life like music and thankfully there is so much great Christian music to listen to and love so you can do just that. From Pop, R&B, and rap regardless of what your taste in music was before I promise you can find Christian music just as fun if not better. I am still adding songs to my library regularly and I am excited to see how much I discover by the end of the year.
