As someone who is moving in a month or so, decorating is the most exciting thing I’m looking forward to. I already got a whole color scheme picked out and everything. Speaking of colors, there has been a huge trend with the color cherry red. Everybody loves a good splash of red to brighten their homes. I can see why, too. Red as a color means passion, love, courage, and good fortune. It’s bold, bright, and can’t help but make a statement when added to a room. It’s the color of roses, hearts, hell, it’s even the color of a Coca-Cola bottle. Even I, whose favorite color is orange, would pick some cherry red decor simply because the color is just so dang pretty.

The Red Theory

Most people know that colors have meaning and symbolism. It explains why we are drawn to certain colors and why they make us feel certain emotions. According to an article from Color Psychology, “red is the first color that humans mastered fabricated reproduced and broke down into different shades. It is also one of the earliest colors used by artists during the prehistoric period.” It even has a religious significance in Christianity, as well as the Renaissance period artists who would paint with red paint to draw people’s attention. Now, in modern times, it is associated with politics and social movements. It all connects to the Red Theory, which is the theory that a room doesn’t look complete until some type of red is added to it. This could include any shade of red. Maroon, burgandy, blood red, fire red, pastel red. Any red could brighten up a room.

Red is so powerful that it can increase people’s energy and attention (science, am I right?). There have been studies that show that people who work in more colorful spaces tend to be more alert and confident than those who work in monotonous spaces. It’s really interesting because not all bright colors have these effects. It also increases blood pressure, respiration, and skin conditions.it creates arousal of warmth, excitement, and passion.

Ways To Use Cherry Red

Cherry red is a bold color, but sometimes it can be overpowering if too much is added in one area. You have to be a little strategic when it comes to adding color to your home, especially red. But! Have no fear; there are some ways to add the bold cherry red your humble abode like:

  • Accent Walls: What’s better than having a splash of color on your wall to brighten up your neutral-colored walls? Use this in your living room, bedroom, even your kitchen to have your place of choice stand out from the rest of your home.
  • Furniture Pieces: What about a cherry red sofa? A lamp? Or how bout a coffee table? Take advantage of the vintage aesthetic or consider the luxurious route instead. Whichever aesthetic you choose will have your guests stopping in awe at your cherry red home.
  • Small Accents:  I feel like the most fun part of decorating a home is the small items you can add that would bring a place together. Throw pillows, blankets, rugs, and curtains in cherry red can add pops of color for those who don’t want to go full in with the cherry red. What’s better is that you can easily find these items in furniture stores or more well-known stores like Bed, Bath, and Beyond, or even Ross is bound to have some good décor there!
  • Kitchen Appliances: You can do a lot when it comes to decorating a kitchen. Imagine having a cherry red pot set to cook in. Or maybe you decide the cabinets need a little change and paint the cabinets red. Even something as small as a red microwave can add a pop of color to the kitchen. I would certainly feel more badass in a red kitchen.
  • Bathroom Details: Now, the bathroom is kind of the least exciting place to decorate just for the simple fact that it’s easy to go overboard with the decorations, especially if you have a small bathroom. However, the good thing is that red bathroom items are pretty easy to find. If you want to go through with the cherry red route for your bathroom, consider buying red towels, bathmats, shower curtains, or red washcloths to add a touch of vibrancy and vanity to your bathroom!
  • Art Decor: I love putting art up on my wall. It’s one of the best ways to make a home feel homy. Tons of art are red that you can buy offline through Amazon and Etsy, and there are plenty of knick-knacks at crafts stores. Or if you’re an artsy person like me, you can make your cherry red décor from scratch!

Achieveing The Perfect Cherry Red Home

Red is probably one of the most popular colors in the world. It’s also probably many people’s favorite color. However, when choosing it as a main color of your home, however, it can get chaotic fast if you don’t know a thing or two about decorating. But don’t worry, it’s easier than you think when you consider certain things.

If you don’t feel want to commit to a full-on red home that makes it feel like you’re living inside an actual cherry, then you might want to start small. Stuff like pillows, towels, or even small art décor can be a good place to start. Lighting can affect the way colors appear, so perhaps take into consideration how much sunlight comes into your home when choosing where you want your red items to be placed. There’s plenty of room to be creative and mix in your own décor style that best represents you and create a space that you 100% love. Overall, just make sure to balance the use of cherry red. Like I said before, overusing the color can become super overbearing and hurt your eyes to look at all the time. Complementary colors or accents are definitely the way to go. balance of the cherry red is
