What Your Favorite Role In Minecraft Says About You

Minecraft has been a staple in my life ever since I first played as a kid. Growing up, I went through many phases of playing the game and many different roles that the game’s endless opportunities gave me. Since starting to play in 2011, I have had the chance to try everything the game has to offer, but end up not finding excitement in anything particular. However, it is very easy to get hooked into certain aspects of the game and master one specific role.

The Different Types of Minecraft Roles

To keep it simple, there are six main roles when playing Minecraft. There’s a builder, farmer, redstoner, explorer, and the hunter. Now, there is a way someone could fit all categories and be labeled as a casual player, but there is always one category they lean toward a bit more than the rest.

What These Minecraft Roles Mean To You

Starting with the builder, they are a more creative person. Being interested in building in the game means you focus more on aesthetics and the style of your base. Even if the build isn’t a massive structure or incredibly detailed, it still has a nice touch dedicated to your own style and taste. You may actually enjoy terraforming and doing more tedious tasks in order to create something you could appreciate.

There are two types of farmers in Minecraft. In my own experience, I have done both types. There’s one side who keeps it more casual by making a small garden and raising a couple of animals. These players tend to yearn for a simpler life and creating that vision in a fictional world in order to escape to something different, and possibly much better. Then, there are

farmers who create an industrialized version of a farm. There are giant wheat fields with intricate systems to gather the crops. There are giant pens of animals all trapped together, built for animal cruelty. These are the determined players who really focus on gathering materials and completing goals in order to progress further in the game.

A redstoner fits similarly with a farmer. For those industrialized built farms, redstone may be included. There are also complex, automated farms, sorting systems, and traps that can be made with redstone. If you are a player that uses a lot of redstone, you are a genius, in my mind.

The explorer, of course, loves to explore the world. You have that sense of freedom and free will that you are able to put into a game that is basically endless. There are tons of different biomes and loot to be gathered that an explorer is able to appreciate. Finding rare structures and gathering brings you joy and a sense of accomplishment.

Lastly, the hunter is a necessary role while playing Minecraft. You are very interested in gathering loot, as well, but mainly gear and important items needed to beat the Ender Dragon. You could have grown up on servers playing hunger games, bed wars, and any other games that involved a lot of PvP. You are the protector.

As much as Minecraft is constantly changing with new updates and features, the roles of Minecraft will stay consistent. There are endless opportunities within the game, and I will always fall back into my weeks long phases of somehow taking on all Minecraft roles. Even if you are a jack of all trades and master of none, there is always one role you can lean toward. Which Minecraft role do you think you are?
