We are currently into week 3 of season 8 Love Island USA and a lot has happened already. Islanders have been dumped, friendships and relationships have been tested, lots of tears have been shed. Here’s everything you need to know about what’s happened on the newest season of Love Island USA so far. 

Cast members (Pre-Casa Amor)

The island started out with 10 original cast members (islanders) with 5 girls and 5 boys. The original girls included Aniya Harvey (23), Trinity Tatum (22), Kenzie Annis (24), Melanie Moreno (24), and Beatriz Hatz (25). The boys are Sean Reifel (29), Bryce Dettloff (29), Sincere Rhea (25), KC Chandler (23), and Zach Georgiou (26). During these first three weeks, new islanders have arrived as well and they are called Bombshells. The first two bombshells were Kayda Bosse (22) and Gabriel Vasconcelos (26) and they arrived at the end of the first episode. The next bombshell was Corbin Mims (22) who made his appearance during one of the challenges the islanders participated in on episode 4. The newest three bombshells, Sol Dean (24), Jen Terry (23), and Caleb McDaniel (21) also arrived during a challenge on episode 6. 

New and old drama 

Shockingly, there was a scandal with one of the islanders before the show even began. Vasana Montgomery (25) was supposed to be part of the original cast and was even posted on Love Island’s Instagram account confirming her participation in the show. However, a video came to light of her using a racial slur in the past which led to her being dumped before stepping foot in the villa. 

The main drama of this season has been between Melanie and Sincere. They have been coupled up from the start and it seems every episode they are in a new argument. With each new boy bombshell that entered the villa, Melanie would jump with glee and express a lot of initial interest. This, obviously, made Sincere upset and they had several conversations on the matter. However, Sincere is far from perfect and as Jen said “I think you’re sincere but you aren’t honest”. When bombshell Sol entered the villa, Sincere began telling her and Melanie that he was interested in both of them and America chose Sol to be coupled up with Sincere. But when talking to the girls one on one, he’d say that he was only interested in them. This came to a head in the 13th episode where each islander was told to write a love letter to who

they want to recouple with. Sol confidently wrote to Sincere based on their conversations and chemistry. But Sincere wrote to Melanie which resulted in the two be coupled up again and Sol left single. 

Kenzie has had her fair share of drama as well. She started off being coupled up with Zach but that quickly turned sour when he expressed to her that she wasn’t his usual type. She was left single for a time and while exploring other connections, she refused to talk to Zach even after his attempts to clear the air with her. Kenzie has also been accused of jumping from guy to guy since she was first coupled up with Zach, then explored with Sean and Corbin, then Caleb, and now she’s back with Corbin. 

Dumped Islanders

14 episodes are out as of writing this and so far 4 islanders have been dumped from the island. The first islander dumped was Sean when he was left without a couple at the end of the first recoupling. His departure was a shock as the one left without a couple was told they’d be left vulnerable and single but it wasn’t clear that they’d be dumped. Trinity ended up being the deciding factor as she had to choose between staying coupled up with Bryce or recoupling with Sean. She inevitably chose to continue pursuing her connection with Bryce, which left Sean single and dumped from the island. In the following episodes, the next islander dumped was Beatriz when she also found herself without a couple. This happened after America’s first vote took place when we were able to choose who the new bombshells should couple up with. At this recoupling, Beatriz and Gabriel were together but America chose to recouple Gabriel with Jen. This left Beatriz and Melanie being the last girls standing and Corbin having to choose one of them to recouple with. After recently having a chat with Melanie, he chose her and Beatriz was sent home. 

The 14th episode ended with 2 islanders being sent home after America voted for their favorite couples. The three least favorite couples were left vulnerable and the boys had to choose one girl to send home and the girls chose one boy to send home. Those couples were Gabriel and Jen, Kenzie and Corbin, and Sol and Caleb. The boys went first and they chose to send home Sol with the reasoning that even though she was in it for the right reasons, they don’t believe 

she’ll find what she’s looking for here. The girls dumped Gabriel arguing that they think he is just waiting for the next bombshell to come in. 

New couples

The current couples in the villa are Melanie and Sincere, Trinity and Bryce, Aniya and KC, Kenzie and Corbin, and Zach and Kayda. Jen and Caleb are still in the villa but are both currently single. Now going into Casa Amor, things are going to be shaken up even more.

What’s coming up

Each new episode brings new drama and we can definitely expect some arguments between the islanders for who they chose to dump. Jen and Caleb lost their couples and are now left single so will they couple up with each other or explore other islanders? We’ll see how Sincere and Melanie’s relationship goes this time and if Sincere can truly be sincere. But when it comes to Love Island, you never really can tell who’s in it for love or just to play the game.
