Q: Tell us your story! Where did you begin and how did you reach the caliber you’re currently at?
A: I started writing songs when I was in high school. I didn’t know where to put all of my feelings and then I never stopped having too many feelings so here we are now. In 2017, I began studying at Berklee College of Music, where I graduated last year with a bachelor’s in songwriting. Berklee and the people I met there helped me get so much better at writing and now I feel like I’m in a position where I’m a little more confident in my abilities and I just want to write songs forever
Q: What makes you love what you do? How long have you been making music? Would you call it your passion?
A: Music is definitely my passion and I couldn’t see myself doing anything else. When I was younger, I was extremely shy and had a hard time expressing myself, so I used music to speak. What makes me love what I do is that nowadays I can be that voice for someone else who needs it.
Q: What are some accomplishments or milestones you’ve reached lately?
A: I finished recording my 6-track EP recently and released the first single “Idealize Me” in July, which felt like a milestone and the beginning of a new chapter for me
Q: Tell us about “Now That You’re Gone”!!
A: “Now That You’re Gone” is my next single that will be out on October 29th. It was the last song I wrote for this project and it’s one of my all-time favorites. It’s about dealing with a long-distance breakup and all the communication issues that surface from that. I wrote it to try to make sense of my own feelings, and it turned out that a lot of people related to it on TikTok and I’m super excited for everyone to hear the entire thing.
Q: Do you have any advice for someone who is starting out in the music industry?
A: I’m just starting out in the music industry myself, but I would say to make the music you would want to listen to yourself. It makes the process a lot more enjoyable.
Q: What do you want our readers to know about you and your music?
A: I make pop songs, somewhere in between Taylor Swift and Lorde with a hint of the color pink (or a lot of it)!
Q: Anything else you would like to add?
A: Thank you so much for having me!! if you’re interested, you can find me on Spotify and Instagram under Manny Moura 🙂
