The flower top photoshoot trend has been sweeping TikTok for a while now and if you haven’t heard of it yet, now is your chance to join in on the fun! What is it exactly? A series of natural and feminine photos with a large bouquet of flowers front and center, used as the main prop. The fun part is that this bouquet is actually used, or made to look like it’s being used as a cover for the chest area. Underneath the flowers is bare skin which is a slightly risque, yet empowering and honest portrait of our bodies.

Whether you hire a professional photographer, ask some friends to join in, or take the pictures as a self portrait, this is a creative way to capture and express yourself. The key is feeling confident in your own skin. Read on for more tips on how to get the perfect results and look like a true goddess amongst blooming flowers and greenery.

Step 1: Create Your Bouquet

The bigger the bouquet, the more coverage you’ll have! Keep this in mind as you prepare for the photoshoot. If you want to show more skin, you can opt for less flowers. TikTok user glitzygirlzboutique recommends three different colors of flowers and greenery. Cut the stems in various lengths, and try to arrange the flowers in a heart shape. You also need to decide whether to use real or fake flowers. It’s worth noting that some people worry about having a reaction to real flowers touching their skin, while others prefer a more natural look.

You should also decide whether you prefer to wear a neutral tank or bra, or go bare for the photoshoot. If you feel more comfortable having the chest area covered, consider a strapless bra that matches your skin color.

Step 2: Find The Right Pair of Pants

Many people participating in this trend wear loose, light-washed denim jeans. When trying to select the right pair of pants for the photoshoot, prioritize extra space in the waistband for the stems of the bouquet. However, you’ll still want flattering pants that aren’t too baggy! We love these baggy, high-waisted and distressed denim pants from Amazon. You can also wear a denim skirt or a different material altogether as long as you feel comfortable and have enough room to fit the bouquet.

Step 3: Location & Golden Hour

Definitely scroll through social media for location ideas, but our favorite shoots typically take place outside during golden hour. Right after sunrise or right before sunset, the light is softer than during peak daylight when the sun is higher in the sky. Your skin will glow, and being outside will automatically give the photos a more natural vibe.

We also love the shoots that have a body of water in the background, whether you’re at the beach or on the riverbank. Ideally the shoot will take place during the warmer months, especially since you will be wearing less clothing!

Step 4: Poses & Effects

Bringing movement to the photos will make them more unique and dynamic. Try slowly spinning  in a circle to capture multiple angles and of course, a cute hair flip! You can also try adding a wide brimmed hat for more outdoorsy charm, or put tights over the camera lens for a DIY vintage filter.

The flower top photoshoot is also a great idea for a maternity shoot, as flowers and plants symbolize growing life and are fitting for capturing pregnancy. You can try doing this shoot with a friend to make fun memories together. Regardless of your reason, this trend is all about channeling your inner feminine power and letting it shine. The photos will serve as a reminder that all bodies (especially yours!) are beautiful just like the flowers in the bouquets being used.

We hope you love this idea as much as we do! Would you try the flower top photoshoot? Let us know in the comments below!
