If there’s one thing all Zillennials have in common, it’s our love for Shrek. Even though the first movie came out over twenty years ago, Shrek has remained a constant in pop culture ever since. Shrek has given us countless memes over the years, and more recently, it’s given us an excuse to party. Shrek Rave is a new viral event where fans of the franchise can dance the night away with ogre-themed music, decorations and, most notably, costumes. If you’re wondering what to wear to Shrek Rave, we’ve got you covered. We’ve found some Shrek Rave outfit ideas sure to please even the biggest of Shrek fans.

Shrek and Fiona

There can’t be a Shrek rave without the man, the myth, the ogre himself. This may be the most obvious out fo all of the Shrek Rave outfit ideas, but you can’t go wrong with a classic Shrek and Fiona combo. If you’re going as Shrek, try a peasant shirt and brown vest with a Shrek ear headband. For a more laid-back look, go with a simple Shrek t-shirt and bucket hat. For Fiona, pair a velvet dress with a tiara. If you want to go all out, grab some green body paint and go to town (alternatively, you can always say you’re dressed as the human versions of Shrek and Fiona). Plus, this is a great excuse to buy the viral Shrek Crocs.

Donkey and Dragon

We all know Donkey is the true star of the Shrek movies. If you want a truly haunting look, you can wear this Donkey mask, but if you want something a little less terrifying, we’ve got you covered. Keep it simple and cozy by wearing a donkey onesie, or pair a donkey accessory set with a gray bodysuitAnd you can’t have Donkey without Dragon. Take a less direct approach with your Dragon costume by pairing a sparkly halter top with snake skin (or in this case, dragon skin) pants. Complete the look with some dragon wings.

Puss in Boots

Puss in Boots is one of the best additions to the Shrek universe. Who can resist the eyes? This accessory set comes with everything you’ll need for a Puss in Boots costume. You can also go with a bright orange fur coat perfect for raving, an orange corset and some orange flare pants. Amazon also has a questionable Puss in Boots bodysuit if you want a more humorous approach. Make sure to add some cat makeup to complete the look.

Lord Farquaad

Lord Farquaad, the man everybody loves to hate. If you’re in the mood to terrorize some fairytale creatures, Lord Farquaad is the way to go. You can get a complete costume here, or have some fun by trading in his tunic for a sparkly red dress and heels. Don’t forget the wig to top it all off!

Fairy Godmother

Fairy Godmother may be a villain, but there’s no denying she popped off with her rendition of “Holding Out for a Hero.” Honor this iconic Shrek 2 scene by donning a red dress, a wig and some fairy wings. Don’t forget to finish the look by adding glasses and a magic wand, which doubles as a microphone for when you’re ready to steal the show just like Fairy Godmother.

Do The Roar Kid

One of my favorite Shrek memes is the “do the roar” kid. Did you know his name is Butter Pants? If you’re looking for a more obscure Shrek Rave outfit, this is the way to go – just be prepared to say the line all night. To truly capture Butter Pants’s essence, try some bloomer pants, a Medieval-inspired top and a peasant’s cap. Complete the look with a giant lollipop, and you’re ready to go convince Shrek to do the roar.

Doris

Who doesn’t love Doris? To dress as this fan-favorite character, wear a purple dress, hoop earrings and a wig. Most of the success in this costume lies in the makeup, so make sure to get some bright blue eyeshadow, overline your lips and draw on some arched eyebrows.

Executioner

One of the best Shrek Rave outfits I’ve seen so far has been a sexy version of the executioner, Thelonious, from the first movie. Grab some fishnets and a black bodysuit and pair them with an executioner hood. This minor character is a fan favorite, so you’re sure to get compliments all night.

Simon Cowell

Everyone knows the best part of owning Shrek 2 on DVD was getting to play Far Far Away Idol, the American Idol-inspired game at the end of the movie. Since Simon Cowell canonically exists in the Shrek universe, I think it would be hilarious if someone dressed as him for Shrek Rave. This is a super simple outfit. Just grab a black t-shirt, some black jeans and a wig, and you’re all set! Extra points for doing a British accent.

Other Characters

There are so many characters in the Shrek universe that we’d be here all day if we tried to list them all. If you’re not vibing with any of the ones we selected today, there is a ton of inspiration for costumes based on other Shrek characters. Some other Shrek Rave outfits I’ve seen include the Big Bad Wolf, Pinocchio, Gingy and even Merlin. For a complete list of characters, I recommend checking out the Shrek Wiki page to find even more hilarious costume ideas.
