The weather may still feel like summer, but it’s October so it’s time to get into the fall spirit. This summer everyone wanted Barbie pink and bright colored manicures. This year, each fall nail trend is more vampy and they play with neutrals. If you need some inspo, keep reading as I go over the top nail trends for fall 2023.
Chocolate glazed donut nails
I have been getting brown nails every September since 2015. There is nothing like a pretty rich chocolate brown manicure to welcome the fall season. It’s one step before black for Halloween. Chrome has been super popular since last year thanks to Mrs. Hailey Beiber herself. People have been adding it on top of their favorite browns this fall and that is how chocolate-glazed donut nails were born. If you don’t have access to chrome (or are a hot girl on a budget like me) look for a glittery or metallic brown. This gives a similar look for no additional cost! Honestly, I like metallic browns better but you choose what you like the best!
Snake skin nails
Snake skin nails were also born this year. You might have seen them labeled as pool nails in the summertime. When the pattern is in blue it looks like pool water, but in more earth tones it transforms into snake skin or crocodile print. To create this effect, nail techs use an expanding nail polish that doesn’t stop spreading until it is cured. It’s really cool and unique, but since it is so niche not a lot of nail techs do this technique. If you find one that does, you have to try out this trend!
Cat eye chrome nails
Cat eye nails have been around for a hot minute, but they have had a hard relaunch this fall. Someone discovered how mesmerizing it is when you do cat eye nails and then put chrome on top. These are probably the coolest nails I’ve seen in a very long time. They look out of this world! The amount of combinations you can do with these nails is truly limitless. If I ever get these nails done, I don’t think I would be able to be productive. I would be staring at my nails under any and all lights I could find.
Tortoise nails
Tortoise nails are a staple in the fall. With the earthy brown tones and black, they go with everything and are such a statement at the same time. I’ve been seeing tortoise french nails this fall and they are so stylish. It gives a whole new look to this fall classic.
Vampy red nails
The girlies on TikTok have all been getting black cherry nails. This is another color that is perfect to get around Halloween. There is no reason that the red nail theory can’t be carried into fall. Black cherry nails also fit into the “old money aesthetic” that has been popping up recently. You can choose how vampy the red you pick is and if it has sparkles or not. Or you can get totally crazy and combine this trend with the cat-eye chrome. These nails scream vampire chic and will get you ready for Halloween in no time.
