At this point, we have all heard of the Cosrx snail mucin serum or the Beauty of Joseon sunscreen. They’ve gone super viral in the past and for good reason — they’re fantabulous. I am on my third bottle of the Cosrx snail mucin serum so clearly, it’s a pretty great product. Over the past few years, the hype around Asian skincare products — specifically Korean skincare — has soared through the roof. I have tried many good Asian skincare products over the past several years, that I want to share with everyone. Some are pretty popular, and others are a little more niche and lesser-known, but they are all amazing in quality.
TOCOBO – Bio Watery Sun Cream
This is one of my favorite sunscreens of all time — and in my opinion, better than the Beauty of Joseon one. The texture is very lightweight and liquidy, and it will not feel heavy on the skin. I am currently on my second bottle, and it pairs amazingly with any kind of moisturizer — whether it’s a gel or thicker cream type, the TOCOBO sunscreen will not pill on your face or leave any type of white cast behind. It is also great for any skin type because it does dry down semi-matte after an hour or so. It will not leave you looking like a greaseball the entire day.
Beauty of Joseon – Matte Sun Stick
This sunscreen stick is the perfect way to reapply your sunscreen during the summer. It does not leave your skin feeling heavy, greasy, or sticky at all. This will be especially helpful if you have oily skin. Summer can make your skin more greasy and oily and you do not want to put on another product that will only make it worse. I have probably gone through three to four sticks of this already. With proper reapplication, you’d need about three layers, and with how lightweight this sunscreen stick is, three layers feel like nothing.
I’m from – Rice Toner
I’m from’s rice products are amazing for all skin types. Their toner really helped make my skin feel softer, pumper, and brighter. The texture is also super light and thin so you can either do one light layer of this toner or do two to three. Either way, because it absorbs so quickly into the skin, you won’t feel like the product the weighing down on your skin and suffocating it. Because of how thin this toner is, you may have to use a little more product than what you’d do with a regular toner, but it is not something that will make a noticeable difference at all. Unless you have dry skin, one to two layers should be more than enough.
SOME BY MI – AHA, PHA, BHA 30 Days Miracle Serum
The AHA, BHA, PHA line from SOME BY MI is really great for acne-prone skin. I used their toner and serum a lot during my freshman year of college when my skin was more oily and acne-prone. The AHA can help with uneven skin texture and hyperpigmentation. The PHA is great for people with sensitive skin because it does not penetrate as deep into all the layers of the skin. The BHA can help with acne, blackheads, and milia. BHA is an oily-skinned person’s best friend. The most popular type of BHA is salicylic acid — you may recognize this name as it is in almost every single product created to target acne and breakouts at this point. This serum was really helpful for targeting many skin concerns all at once without irritating the skin.
Haruharu WONDER – Black Rice Hylauronic Toner (fragrance-free)
This toner is amazing for any skin type — especially those with dry or sensitive skin. The hyaluronic acid is really great for hydrating the skin and keeping it plump and supple. There are also no added fragrances that could potentially irritate the skin so if you’re on the sensitive side this will be amazing to add into your skincare routine. The way the toner feels on the skin is also very aromatic. It provides an amazing base for the rest of your skincare regimen.
Have you tried any of these products? Do you have any good Asian skincare products that you’d recommend to people?
