Brat summer has come to an end, but lucky for us all the party continues into fall with the Sweat Tour, featuring Charli XCX and Troye Sivan. The second these two announced they would be touring together, I knew it wasn’t something that I could miss. Brat and Something to Give Each Other are both amazing albums in their own right, and two artists of this caliber sharing a stage together is practically unheard of, much less an entire tour. A once-in-a-lifetime chance is what I told myself as I sat in the ticket queue in April. Nearly six months later, it’s been a long wait, but it gave me plenty of time to contemplate the oh-so-important question of what to wear to a Charli XCX concert. I’ve thought long and hard, and fortunately, many others have too. Here are seven Troye Sivan and Charli XCX concert outfit ideas for their upcoming Sweat Tour.

Steal Charli’s Look

Charli XCX brought back the party girl aesthetic, with a more polished flare than previous iterations. Her style draws heavily from grunge and punk, while also leaning into a scary feminine aesthetic. Staples of her style include mini skirts and micro shorts, black leather, statement belts, and low-rise jeans. Her color palette is largely black and white with occasional pops of color like this look from Acne Studios and of course her iconic brat green hue. Also a must are a pair of athletic-framed sunglasses and a lived-in winged eyeliner look.

Troye in the “Got Me Started” Music Video

No need for Charli to guess the color of your underwear if you steal this look from Troye Sivan’s “Got Me Started” music video. This look (and video) has become iconic thanks to the dance that went viral. It even inspired SNL’s Troye Sivan Sleep Demon bit with Timothee Chalamet and boygenius. To recreate this look you will need a pair of red boxer briefs, blue pants, and a white tank top. In the video, the tank top features a warped diamond-shape cut out in the center outlined in black. To fully recreate the look, you could simply draw the design on the shirt and cut out the center like this creator on TikTok

Billie in the “Guess” Music Video

This collaboration had my jaw on the floor the first time I heard it, not to mention when we saw the two together in the music video. In the video, Billie Eilish wears her trademark baggy clothing and streetwear style. For this look you will need: baggy jeans, a utility belt, a backward hat, sneakers, and thin, wire-rimmed spectacles. The shirt is a little trickier. Eilish wears the international brand Girbaud in the music video,  but a similar look could be achieved by layering a baseball tee and a darker-colored athletic jersey. She also wears an additional baseball cap attached to her belt loop and a dog tag around her neck. To add extra flare and homage to the music video, throw in a couple of pairs of loose undies in your pockets and prompt people to “Guess”.

DIY It

Now, I’m being so nice and not gatekeeping what I will be making for my own concert outfit. I’m being dramatic of course, but I’m so excited to make a “Brat” patchwork shirt. There’s something about making your outfit that is deeply satisfying. Like some of the fans who bedazzled or beaded their own Eras Tour outfits, creating your own Charli XCX concert outfit gives you the chance to lean into getting excited about the upcoming musical spectacle.

To complete this look you need a tee to attach the letters onto. Some others who have DIY-ed patchwork tees have gotten their shirts at the craft store or Brandy Melville. You will also need different fabric for each letter of Brat. I’m opting to use black and chartreuse green patterns. Using an iPad, or printed-out letters in the font of your choosing, trace the outline of the letters onto the fabric and then cut out each letter. Next, pin the letters and hand stitch around each one (an embroidery ring can be especially helpful for this part). Some opt to glue their letters first with fabric glue to ensure they are securely attached. The messier the stitching, the better. I plan to pair the shirt with a mini skirt, tall black boots, and of course a pair of sunglasses.

“Fancy” Music Video

I’m a big fan of a callback, especially when it means bringing back an artist’s past. This outfit takes me back to simpler times. 2014 to be exact. When all I had to worry about was finishing middle school and learning all the lyrics to Iggy Azalea’s third-verse rap. While this outfit doesn’t exactly scream brat, it does pay homage to the 90s–specifically the outfits in Clueless. In the video, Charli wears a white long sleeve collared shirt with a blue blouse over top. A mini skirt and tall white socks complete the look.

Channel Gabbriette’s Style

There’s a reason that Charli chose to shout out Gabbriette Bechtel on the opening track of Brat. The track itself and the “360” video recognizes other style icons including Julia Fox, Emma Chamberlain, and Quenlin Blackwell. Other than the fact that the two are both engaged to members of the 1975, Gabbriette and Charli have been friends since Bechtel starred in the “After the Afterparty” music video. Gabbriette is known for her 90’s goth aesthetic as well as being a model, dancer, and musician. Hallmarks of her style include thin brows, all-black outfits, and lived-in smokey eye makeup that emphasizes the under-eye bags.

Charli’s Met Gala Hair

If you don’t want to recreate an entire look, Charli’s 2024 Met Gala spikey bun is a great way to add a punk edge to any Charli XCX concert outfit. The stylist who created the look, Matt Benns, even did a walkthrough of the look on TikTok. He uses lots of hairspray and a straightener to seal the hair into more rigid, flexible pieces that are then assembled into spikes of the bun.

If all else fails you could opt for what one creator did and stencil “brat” into your hair or there are lots of awesome “Apple” and other Brat-inspired designs on Etsy currently. At the end of the day, the Sweat Tour is meant to be a party regardless of what you’re wearing. I hope to see my fair share of iconic outfits in a few weeks, and but more than anything I’m ready to hear all the “Club classics” that shaped our summer.
