I know what you’re thinking. You’re probably looking through a library of movies and TV shows on Netflix or other streaming platforms wondering “What the hell am I going to watch?” Well, I got news for you! It’s finally 2025 and that means there are a whole year worth of new shows 2025 and returning ones. From action pack to steamy romance to grueling horror, 2025 will desire of entertainment. Watching movies and TV shows are one of my favorite past times, so I’m always on the hunt for new shows and movies to watch. Here are 10 shows to add to your TBW (to be watched) list!
1. Invincible (Season 3)

If you like gory fights and superheroes, Invincible is the show for you. It’s considered one of the best-animated shows to date, and it’s clear why. It’s vastly different from other adult shows and doesn’t shy away from mature graphics and themes. It follows Mark Grayson, son of Omni-Man, as he develops his powers and discovers his father’s dark and disturbing past. This action-packed animated show will premier its first three episodes of season 3 on February 6, 2025, and will continue to drop episodes until March 13. A teaser has already dropped on Instagram, and boy, there is a lot to unpack. The Mauler Twins are back, Oliver has grown up, Cecil seems to become more and more of a villain, and Omni-Man is still in self-pity hell. If you’re a Marvel or DC fan, I highly recommend giving this show a shot.
2. The Pitt
Now, I’m not much of a medical drama girly, but if you work in the medical field or just looking for something to fuel your medical drama-loving heart look no further than The Pitt. Released on Max on January 9, 2025, The Pitt, like most medical dramas, is about the daily lives of healthcare workers working in a chaotic environment to treat critically ill patients. What’s interesting about the show is that it seems to be more focused on what goes on in the ER than the character drama and romance. You can just feel the stress and the adrenaline rush of the healthcare workers as you watch them try to save lives. What’s also cool about this show is the return of Noah Wyle, a former actor who played John Carter in ER and is now playing the starring role of Dr. Michael Robinavitch in The Pitt.
3. Alien Earth
As someone who loves learning about space and wondering if we’re the only ones out there, the idea of going out in space freaks me out. And giant horrifying aliens creep me out even more. Just when we thought the Alien franchise was over, Alien Earth now features a brand new story set before the events of the original Alien movie that came out in 1979. Set to come out in the summer of 2025, this creepy sci-fi show follows a group of soldiers that ends up discovering a monstrous alien after their spaceship crashes on Earth. I never watch any of the Alien movies (I know, I know, sue me), but seeing how hype people are hyped up about the return of Alien really piqued my interest. If you’re someone who loves watching a hideous and terrifying creature destroy the world or just a fan of the Alien franchise, then you should definitely look out for this show in the Summer!
4. Dope Thief

There’s nothing like doing a crime with your best friend, am I right? Dope Thief follows two friends who pretend to be DEA agents to rob a house but soon find themselves involved in one of the biggest narcotics corridors on the East Coast. The show is set to come out on March 14, 2025, and so far, not much has been revealed about the show. However, if you’re someone who takes an interest in looking at the cast list, you would probably recognize the actors playing the two main characters. Brian Tyree Henry plays a character named Ray in Dope Thief, and he is famously recognized as Lemon from Bullet Train, the voice of Megatron in Transformers One, and Miles Morales’s dad in Spiderverse movies. As for Wagner Moura, who plays Manny in the show, voices the unnerving wolf in Puss In Boots: The Last Wish and plays Other John from the Amazon show Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Those two actors alone should draw you into watching the show!
5. The Last Of Us (Season 2)

Calling all gamers and zombie nerds!
Out of all the TV shows listed here, The Last Of Us is the one I am anticipating the most. The popular post-apoloctypic show is finally coming back with a second season that will be airing in April 2025, and if you have already played The Last Of Us Part 2, then you know things are about to get real. The beloved game and now TV show adaptation follows Joel and Ellie, who spend travels across America trying to survive and navigate a post-outbreak world. Much like Season 1, Season 2 will be based on the second game of the franchise that came out in 2020, which means new characters, more brutal situations, and you guessed it: more zombies. Tense and gut-wrenching and full of moments that will make you jump out of your seat, The Last Of Us Season 2 will have you on a rollercoaster of emotions. Just make sure you bring tissues. You’re gonna need them.
6. Sakamoto Days

For all my anime lovers out there, look no further than Sakamoto Days. Convenience store owner, Sakamoto used to be considered one of the greatest hitmen to ever live, but when he falls in love and starts a family, he puts his past behind him…until a bounty is put on his head that threatens his peaceful life. We finally get a fresh new take on a “John Wick” character who actually gets a happy ending. Sakamoto has a loving wife and kid AND owns a store. The guy is living his best life. The best parts of the show are the fight scenes featuring Sakamoto fighting his enemies with chopsticks (I’m not kidding look it up). If you love anime and need something to give you a good laugh, Sakamoto Days is the way to go!
