Invincible is back with a brand new season! Mark Grayson, is back stronger than ever and faces new challenges as a young superhero.  I have been a huge fan of Invincible, since the first season came out. Once I saw that it was adult animated TV show that didn’t hold back from showing blood and gore and involved superheroes, I was hooked. Besides the action pack fights, engaging charcaters, and cool villains, Invincible really pulls in me with the storyline of the son of half Viltramite half human who is battling with not becoming a murder like his father.  If you haven’t watched the show yet, you should definelty watch it. Instead of dropping th eepisodes all at once like some shows do, Invincible is dropping epiosdes every Thursday up until March 13, 2025. The first premire showcased the first three episodes which were a good start into the new season. Let’s see what went on in Invincible Season 3 (warning: there are spoilers!).

Episode 1

Episode one opens with Mark’s training session at the Global Defense Agency (GDA). He is way stronger and faster than we last see him. From the stats Donald reports to Cecil Mark’s strength has increased by 138%. But it’s clear that he’s still not strong enough to defeat other Viltramites like Anissa or Nolan. The episode wastes no time through us into the action, when Mark is told to stop the guys from stealing the Declaration of Independence.  Rex joins Invincible in the fight and I love how their friendship with each other have grown. It’s really good to see Rex actively trying to be a better person compared to how he was in the first season. I couldn’t really stand him at first, but now he’s one of my favorite characters.

After the fighting Dropkick and Fightmaster (who ends up taking the Declaration of Independence) Multi-Paul comes in and attack s Rex. Now, at first I was thinking Multi-Paul was from another universe because he looks just like Multi-Kate but as a male, but it turns out that he was actually Kate’s brother. Kate, who we thought got brutally murdered by Komodo Dragon, shows up with Immortal who has also disappeared for a while. We don’t really get to know Multi-Paul to well before he is put in jail and he doesn’t seem to be that important to the story for now.  I do want to know what his deal was and why he chose now out of all times to pop up.

Meanwhile, Mark’s brother, Oliver, has gotten older (thanks to his Thraxan blood), and he is super smart. He can retain just about everything. Like any younger brother, he looks up to Mark a lot and wants to help him fight crime. I don’t really see Oliver staying out of trouble anytime soon. Especially with him discovering his new powers.

Moving onto relationships, Mark and Eve finally becomes a couple!  I think me and the whole fandom saw this coming a mile away. There have been little hints of them liking each other since season 1, despite them both being in relationships. It just makes sense. They’re both superheroes, they’re both around the same age, and they both have good chemistry with each other. They’re really cute together and they understand each other in a way that wont drive the other away like it did with Mark and Amber.

Finally at the end of the episode we get to the part where there arguments and division cuts the fandom. In a battle against Doc seismic, Darkwing comes in and joins the fight. Mark is pissed off by this (rightfully so) and ends up going to Cecil and demanding why is Darkwing back after what he has done in season 2. Cecil tries to get mark to calm down and he leads him to a white room  for his  protection against Mark. He makes robots appear that he’s been working on in season 2 and Mark destroys them all out of anger. This becomes a very tense moment as Cecil pulls out a device that sent loud excruciating sound wave to Mark that causes him to buckle. This would lead Mark flying to The Guardians headquarters to tell them what Cecil is up to.

Episode 2

Episode two starts out with Cecil’s backstory, which is something I’ve been wondering about. It shows how he went through the same situation Mark is going through. Young Cecil defeats two villains who were trying to destroy the city and puts them in jail, but come to find out that the head of the GDA at the time brought them to work with them, because he didn’t want to waste potential. When he later appoints Cecil’s as the head of he GDA he tells Cecil, “you can be the good guy or the guy that saves the world. You can’t be both”

After the whole fight with Mark and Cecil the guardians split up. Those who side with Mark left and those who trust Cecil that he knows what he’s doing stayed. The Guardians of The  Globe splitting leaves the question. Will the Guardians get back together? At the end of the episode that I found really interesting was that it showed how Cecil and Nolan met and how he had hm to joins the guardians, but it also reveals that Cecil always had his doubts about him.

To me,  I can understand both sides of the situation between Mark and Cecil.  I can understand how Cecil, the head of the GDA, is scared to trust another superhero like mark after the betrayal of Omni-man. He’s willingly do anything to protect himself and the world and with mark being half Viltramite and by how angry he gets knowing how strong  and powerful he is there would need to be measures taken in to stop him if it comes to mark turning his back on the world. However, I do think Cecil didn’t need to put a sound vibration device in Mark without him knowing or his permission or have a room dedicated to stopping him.  I don’t think it was right to do that. With Mark, I can understand that he is upset about Darkwing coming back and the possibility of Cecil working with other villains that killed people and wanted to take over the world. He is just a kid trying to be a good person. We the audience know that Mark tries very hard to be good and not be like his dad. He tries to prove that he won’t turn his back on Earth. We know he’s not a bad guy, but with the way he was coming at Cecil was scary. Although he was justified in being mad, I don’t think yelling at Cecil and not backing down or claiming down was the right move. It defiantly escalated things more than it should’ve. But I understand that Mark feels betrayed in a way because he tries really hard to be good and do good things by saving the world and protecting people but there are still people like Cecil that still doesn’t completely trust which I say is valid. He doesn’t want to make the same mistake he did with Nolan on being too trusting.

Episode 3

Last episode of the premiere left me stunned. It didn’t start with invincible. It didn’t start with Cecil or any of the Guardians. Hell, not even Nolan. The episode actually starts with a villain couple.

I couldn’t be the only one that was confused and thought they I wasn’t watching the right show. The villain couple was first shown robbing a bank, but later shows also who’s why they was robbing the bank. The couple were facing financial issues and were trying to pay their rent before they were put out the house. It’s clear that they didn’t want to do crime because they love it. They actually wanted to live a normal life and earn enough money to eat and live at their apartment. Their relationship was really sweet and it got me feeling for these characters in a matter of like 5-6 minutes. Everything was going good at first cause the both of them was working at a fast food or restaurants of some kind but then they got fired. The villain couple ended up being evicted from their house and it didn’t leave them no other choice but to rob the bank.

But they were stopped by Mark. Now I was kinda upset at Mark at first when he was beating up the bad guys. Like if only he knew what they were going through. I think that’s the point of the beginning of the episode.  All bad guys aren’t bad.

On a lighter note a good bit of the episode builds up the characters. Amber and Eve catch up with each other. Rae and Rex’s friendship grows. Debbie is going on dates with Paul (real estate Paul not Mulit-Paul). Eve is planning on moving back in with her parents.

Things get pretty hectic however, when Mark goes to fight the Mauler Twins and Oliver follows him. Oliver doesn’t listen and gets hurt during the fight.

They were trying to launch a rocket but then the Guardians try to stop them but the twins end up beating them. Then Mark tries to stop them. What really caught me of guard was the fight between Oliver and the twins. While Mark was trying to stop the rocket, Oliver held his own fighting the twins. It ended with Oliver, sweet, purple baby boy Oliver, murdering the Mauler twins. My jaw dropped when I saw the scene happened. I was shocked. And what’s worse is that he didn’t seem to feel bad about it. He told mark the at life wasn’t precious on earth because people are killed everyday by regular humans everyday. And it was at that point where was afraid that Oliver was turning into Omni-man. A little kid was had committed murder for the first time. Now I’m really interesting in where the story would go from here. It ends with the Grayson amity talking about what happen and mark finding a camera that came from no other than Sinclair.
