Romanticizing your life is everyone’s new favorite form of self-care. It’s all about putting yourself first, prioritizing your happiness and living your absolute best life, which is the perfect energy to bring into hot girl summer! The whole ‘romanticizing your life’ trend sounds cute and fun on TikTok, but what does it actually mean? Well, romanticizing life means finding joy in the little things we experience every day, no matter how mundane or repetitive they are. It means taking time to properly appreciate life’s little moments, aka living slower. Here are nine simple ways to find happiness in everyday things, romanticize your life and feel all the main character energy.
Take Yourself Out On A Date
Who says you need a partner to go on a date? Show yourself love by taking yourself out on a solo date! There are so many fun things you can enjoy by yourself, like going to a new coffee shop, touring a museum or buying yourself a little something something. Nothing says romanticizing your life like treating yourself!
Make Yourself Coffee Or Tea
I don’t know about you guys, but making and drinking a cup of coffee or tea can improve my mood so much. Starting my days off with a cup of something I love sets the tone for the rest of the day. So, froth the milk and do the coffee art. It really is the little things!
Be Active
This doesn’t mean going to the gym for two hours every day and hating every second of it. Find a form of movement that you love doing! It could be hiking, yoga, bike riding or taking walks. Even just twenty minutes of physical activity a day will do you good, both in the mind and body. There is nothing more powerful than being committed to your well-being.
Dress To Impress Yourself
Wearing what makes you happy is one of the easiest ways to romanticize your life. Is there something in your closet you’ve been dying to wear but just never have? Put it on tomorrow! If you’re still finding your style, consider dopamine dressing which is sure to boost your confidence, mood and main character status.
Buy Yourself Flowers
If a bouquet of flowers puts a smile on your face, consider making it a habit to buy yourself some. This is one of my favorite forms of self-care because it’s a simple, surefire way to brighten up your mood and living space. You deserve to get flowers and feel special, and the best part is, you can give them to yourself!
Unwind Before Bed
How many of us get into bed and scroll aimlessly through social media before falling asleep? Guilty. Well, what if there was a way to have a more gratifying and beneficial night routine? Unwinding before bed is a great way to show yourself some love, get a better night’s sleep and romanticize your life. You can do this by cozying up your space and relaxing before bed, like lighting a candle, making a hot cup of tea and journaling. This is essentially practicing hygge, a lifestyle that prioritizes comfort and self-care. We love what something as simple as unwinding can do for your well-being and finding joy in the little things.
Capture The Mems
It’s easy to get caught up in life’s little moments as they happen. They can pass just as quickly as they came, and you might feel down after they’re over. An easy way to remember the good times and romanticize your life is to capture the memories! See the pretty sky during the sunset? Take a picture of it! Love the book you’re currently reading? Snap a pic! Taking pictures of the little things that make you happy is a simple way to commemorate living your best life.
Notice Nature
In so many cases, we go through life without taking the time to soak in the nature around us. An easy way to romanticize your everyday life and the world around you is to notice the trees, the waterfalls and the plants. If you live in an area known for its greenery, take the time to appreciate the elements of nature you pass on your way to work. Go on hikes and appreciate the views. If you live in a city that has less of a natural landscape, don’t worry. You can take walks through the parks in your area or give your space some life with plants.
Find New Hobbies
Finding things to do that bring you joy is an amazing way to romanticize your life. A good idea is to find new hobbies for yourself that will keep you evolving and growing. Love to read? Try branching out into a different genre. If you enjoy making things, consider crocheting or baking fun recipes. Meditation is another great hobby that will help you practice being mindful and prioritizing yourself.
Remember, there is no set rulebook for romanticizing your life. There are so many ways that you can make the mundane, everyday things in life more meaningful. In any case, follow what makes you happy and do what makes you feel good!
