As a zillennial, cell phones have changed so much over my lifetime. From the flip phone to the full keyboard phones to now all touchscreen iPhones, it’s crazy to think how far technology has come. As phones have gotten more expensive, I worry about dropping my phone more than ever. This is where phone grips can be super helpful. Popsockets have had the corner on the market for a long time, but I’ve recently discovered a different product that has so many more uses!
Popsocket vs LoveHandle
I have purchased so many Popsockets since 2017, it’s actually insane. I recently upgraded my phone and decided to do some research to see if there was a better phone grip out there. This is when I found the LoveHandle. After using it for almost two months now, I’m here to tell you all the pros and cons of each. I like them both for different reasons, so let’s get into it.
Aesthetic and Ergonomics
Looking at them on a table I think the Popsocket is cuter, but while in use the LoveHandle Pro looks a thousand times better. When it comes to how efficient these two phone grips are I would say the Popsocket feels more unnatural to use. It’s circular and as you can see from the picture, our fingers don’t bend that way! You can customize a Popsocket but you cannot customize a LoveHandle Pro. Both use adhesive to stick on your phone or phone case and have MagSafe options available. The strap on my LoveHandle Pro is silicone which means it is super easy to clean, but there is also a version with an elastic strap. In the time I’ve had it, there haven’t been any problems. In terms of Popsockets’ durability, every single one I’ve ever had has gotten wear spots around the edges regardless if they have a design or if they are a solid color. If you try to use your phone laying down on the table, depending on where you place the Popsocket on the back of your phone, it can make the phone off balance and hard to use. Since the LoveHandle Pro is long and flat it makes my phone a million times easier to use when it’s on the table. It’s also flatter than a Popsocket which makes it easier to put in a pocket.
Specs and Pricing
The LoveHandle Pro retails for $29.99 and Popsockets retail for $10. This is why the Popsocket has been a smash hit. It’s affordable and available at large retailers like Walmart and Target, but hear me out. The LoveHandle Pro is the ultimate multitasker and for the additional money comes additional features. It can be used as a kickstand vertically and horizontally. Being able to stand vertically makes facetiming easier. I’m not finding myself trying to find random objects to prop my phone up with. The horizontal position is great for watching YouTube videos and streaming shows. The LoveHandle Pro is also magnetic. It can stick to anything metal like the refrigerator or the microwave which is a really fun feature.
Final Thoughts
Popsocket is old faithful when it comes to phone grips. They are super affordable and dependable. I’ve never had one come off but they do start to look worn out after a while. LoveHandle is the dark horse. They have been around for just as long but are not very well known. The Pro model that I have has additional features that the Popsocket doesn’t. I don’t think there is a clear winner in the Popsocket vs LoveHandle battle, it comes down to personal preference and how you use your phone.
